NCW condemns half-naked parade of woman in Tarn Taran, Punjab; BJP criticizes AAP Government

A distressing incident emerged from Valtoha village in Punjab's Tarn Taran district where a 55-year-old woman was allegedly subjected to humiliation and assault. The National Commission for Women (NCW) swiftly reacted, terming it "deeply disturbing" and "appalling". The incident unfolded after the woman's son married a girl against her family's wishes, leading to a horrific retaliation.

Outcry and call for action

NCW Chairperson, Rekha Sharma, condemned the lack of intervention by authorities or locals during the incident. She urged the Punjab Director General of Police to act promptly against the perpetrators. Expressing concern over the inaction, Sharma announced NCW's intervention and threatened to escalate the matter to the Election Commission of India if justice wasn't served.
