Women in rural and urban areas to get loans up to Rs 5 lakh through banks
Panchkula, 14 June: Deputy Commissioner Sh Satpal Sharma said that under the Matrushakti Udyamita Yojana, the Haryana Government, through the Haryana Women Development Corporation, is providing loans of up to Rs 5 lakh through banks to women in both rural and urban areas.
He said that the objective of the scheme is to make women self-reliant and to improve their economic and social status. For the current year, a target of 40 cases has been set for Panchkula district.
He informed that women entrepreneurs residing in Haryana, aged between 18 and 60 years, with an annual family income of less than Rs 5 lakh are eligible to apply under the scheme. Applicants must not be defaulters of any previous loans. Under the scheme, the Haryana Women Development Corporation will provide an interest subsidy of 7 percent for a period of three years, subject to timely repayment of loan installments.
He further informed that the scheme covers all activities except dairy, negative activities notified by the Industries Department, and those falling under KVIB. Eligible activities include auto-rickshaws, small goods vehicles, three-wheelers, e-rickshaws, and taxis under the transport category. Under social and personal service activities, women can start ventures such as salons and beauty parlors, tailoring units, boutiques, photocopy shops, papad and pickle making units, confectionery shops, food stalls, ice cream and biscuit manufacturing units, handloom units, bag manufacturing, canteen services, and similar enterprises, enabling women to establish their own businesses.
He informed that to avail the benefits of the scheme; the prescribed documents must be submitted along with the application. These documents include the application form, ration card/family identity card, Aadhaar card, two passport-sized photographs, residence certificate, project report, and training certificate/experience certificate.
