Seventeen-year-old Ananaya Jain from Ludhiana, Punjab, has become the topper of the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2025. According to data from the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted CUET UG 2025, a total of 13,54,699 candidates registered for the test. Out of these, 10,71,735 students actually appeared. Despite such a huge number, Ananaya Jain stood out as the only one with four perfect scores.
The second rank went to Arjav Jain from Delhi, and the third place was secured by Purva Singh from Haryana.
The NTA shared more interesting statistics:
-
17 candidates scored 100 percentile in three subjects
-
150 candidates scored 100 percentile in two subjects
-
2,679 candidates scored 100 percentile in one subject
However, the names of these candidates were not disclosed.
State leaders praise her success
Ananaya’s remarkable performance caught the attention of many prominent leaders.
Sanjeev Arora, Punjab’s Minister of Industry & Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs, took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate her. He wrote,
“Ananaya is the only student in the country to score 100 percentile in 4 out of 5 subjects — a truly exceptional feat that has made all of Punjab proud. Wishing her continued success as she begins the next chapter of her academic journey.”
Ravneet Singh Bittu, Union Minister of State for Railway and Food Processing Industries, also praised her:
“She has made Punjab and the entire nation proud by being the only candidate to score 100 percentile in four out of five subjects — a truly remarkable feat. Such brilliance and dedication among our youth are a strong reflection of New India's academic excellence. Best wishes to her for a bright future ahead.”
Ananaya is a commerce stream student from DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana. Her academic record has always been outstanding:
-
She scored 98.8% in her Class 12 board exams
-
She scored 97% in her Class 10 board exams
Her family is very supportive of her studies. Her father, Manav Jain, is a chartered accountant, and her mother, Neeti Jain, is a homemaker.
Her elder brother is currently pursuing Economics Honours from Delhi University, and Ananaya plans to follow the same path. She said,
“I have a strong interest in economics. It is my favourite subject. DU provides the best student crowd and a rigorous academic environment for this course and hence I want to pursue this course there.”
How she prepared for CUET UG
Ananaya’s preparation journey is an inspiring one. She mostly depended on NCERT textbooks for all subjects, calling them the best source of clear and concept-based study material. Alongside her school studies, she practiced with mock tests to get used to the exam pattern.
She also took a one-month crash course, which helped her revise important topics and improve her time management.
Interestingly, her preparation for the English section started two years ago. She consistently worked on grammar, reading comprehension, and vocabulary exercises. Her daily reading habits and practice helped her score 99.99 percentile in the subject.
Even though she just missed a perfect 5 out of 5, Ananaya said she is happy with her performance and is now focusing on the next stage of her academic journey.
The CUET UG is a common entrance test used by more than 250 universities across India, including Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and many central and state universities. It aims to give students a single platform for admissions to undergraduate courses.
The test includes questions from various subjects based on what students have studied in Class 12. Students can choose their preferred subjects, and each subject is scored separately. The highest score possible in a subject is 100 percentile, which means the student performed better than 99.99% of other candidates in that subject.
For students aiming for top universities, CUET UG results play a key role in admission.

Balancing school and entrance preparation
Ananaya’s strategy was to stay consistent with her schoolwork while preparing for CUET UG. She didn’t take on too many coaching classes. Instead, she focused on self-study and quality learning.
“I used NCERT books and focused on understanding each topic deeply. The crash course helped me revise everything and manage time better during exams,” she said.
She also managed to maintain a balanced routine with time for breaks, reading, and sleep. This helped her stay relaxed and focused during exam season.
Ananaya encourages students preparing for CUET UG to:
-
Focus on NCERTs, especially for subjects like Economics, Business Studies, and Accountancy
-
Practice mock tests regularly to build confidence and speed
-
Start preparing early, especially for English
-
Stay calm and be consistent with your study schedule
“Believe in yourself. Even with limited resources, regular and smart practice can help you score well,” she said.
She also thanked her teachers, parents, and friends for supporting her throughout this journey.
A bright future ahead
With such an outstanding result in both board exams and CUET UG, Ananaya Jain is set for a promising academic future. She hopes to get admission in Economics Honours at Delhi University, which has one of the most competitive cut-offs in the country.
Her performance reflects not only her hard work but also the growing success of students from Tier-2 cities like Ludhiana.
“I’m excited for what’s ahead and looking forward to new challenges at DU,” she shared.
Ananaya Jain’s success in CUET UG 2025 stands as a shining example of determination, discipline, and smart preparation. Being the only student in India to score 100 percentile in four out of five subjects is no small feat. Her story inspires thousands of young students preparing for competitive exams.
With strong academic support from her family, clear goals, and consistent effort, Ananaya has shown that excellence is within reach for all students — regardless of background — when guided by dedication and the right strategy.
