Indian Oil Successfully Organises Official Language Officers’ Conference
52 Official Language Representatives Participate in the Official Language Conference
Chandigarh, December 13: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Marketing Division), Punjab State Office, Chandigarh, organised a one-day Official Language Officers’ Conference on December 12 under the aegis of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (Office–1), Chandigarh. The conference was held in the conference hall of the Punjab State Office, with participation from 52 Official Language Officers/In-charges/Translators representing member offices of TOLIC (Office–1).
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Jagjit Kumar, Senior Hindi Officer, Indian Oil, followed by the Indian Oil Official Language Song. On the occasion, Mr. Ashutosh Gupta, Executive Director, Indian Oil, welcomed Ms. Neena Malhotra, Member Secretary, TOLIC (Office–1) and Deputy Director (Official Language), Income Tax Department, Chandigarh, along with other distinguished guests and speakers by presenting them with shawls and books.
During the conference, a book titled “Uttar Adhunik Vimarsh (Postmodern Discourse)”, authored by Dr. Jagjit Kumar, was released. The book presents an in-depth discussion on various dimensions and trends of postmodernism, including literature, media, language, and its impact and relevance in the Indian context.
In his presidential address, Mr. Ashutosh Gupta stated that Indian Oil is fully committed to the effective implementation of Hindi as the Official Language and actively supports the initiatives of TOLIC (Office–1), Chandigarh. He also highlighted that Indian Oil, Punjab State Office, has received the First Prize from the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, for outstanding implementation of Official Language.
First Session: Ms. Neena Malhotra, Member Secretary, TOLIC (Office–1) and Deputy Director (Official Language), Income Tax Department, Chandigarh, guided participants on the topic of the “Parliamentary Official Language Questionnaire.” She explained the updated questionnaire, the correct method of filling it, and important precautions to be followed.
Second Session: Dr. Jagjit Kumar, Senior Hindi Officer, Indian Oil, made a presentation on “Updated E-Tools.” He highlighted the use of typing tools, voice typing, translation tools, Bhashini, Anuvadini, Microsoft Quick Parts, and AI-based Hindi applications to simplify and expedite official work.
Third Session: Dr. Shilpa Suri, Corporate Trainer, shared her views on “Stress Management.” She emphasised work–life balance, a positive outlook, and regular exercise for adopting a stress-free work style.
Fourth Session: Shri Arvind Kumar, Assistant Director, Hindi Teaching Scheme, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, provided information on “BHARTI – Multilingual Translation Sarthi and Hindi Shabd-Sindhu,” and stressed the increased use of these translation tools in Official Language work.
Fifth Session: Dr. Pankaj Aneja, Assistant Director, PGI, Chandigarh, addressed the topic “Role of Language in Personality Development.” He described language as an important foundation of personality development and highlighted the importance of positive thinking.
At the conclusion of the programme, Shri Anurag Anand, General Manager (Human Resources), Indian Oil, conducted the feedback session. Representatives from the member offices of TOLIC (Office–1) appreciated the conference and described it as highly useful.
Indian Oil, Punjab State Office, honoured all guest speakers and representatives from member offices of TOLIC (Office–1) by presenting them with mementoes. Thereafter, Dr. Jagjit Kumar, Senior Hindi Officer, Indian Oil, Punjab State Office, expressed gratitude to Ms. Neena Malhotra, Member Secretary, TOLIC (Office–1), and all participating representatives, and formally announced the conclusion of the conference.
