Controversy erupts as video shows Govt School student mixing cement in uniform in U.P.'s Basti

In Uttar Pradesh's Basti district, a viral video has surfaced showing government school children involved in mixing cement and manual labor. The video, shared on social media platforms, sparked outrage and concerns about the state of education in the region.

Official response:

BSA Anoop Kumar expressed dismay over the situation and promptly assigned Block Education Officer Omkarnath Verma to investigate the matter. The BEO visited the school in question, identified as Raipur Government Primary School, and commenced the investigation.

Upon investigation, BEO Omkarnath Verma determined that after school hours, locals might have utilized the premises for construction-related activities, including cement mixing. It was noted that one of the boys involved was a class 3 student, while the identities of the other children couldn't be ascertained by the school authorities.

The Basti police also took notice of the issue and assured that necessary actions would be taken after thorough investigation. Meanwhile, the BEO clarified that during mid-day meal preparations, classes were conducted under tree sheds due to limited classrooms, emphasizing that after meal preparations, students returned to their regular classrooms.

Public outcry and allegations:

The video prompted significant backlash on social media platforms, with the UP Congress highlighting the plight of government schools in the state. Allegations were made against the BJP government, accusing it of neglecting education and aiming to keep the younger generation illiterate to exert control.
