Khattar and leaders visit Vinay Narwal’s family as Karnal mourns his loss

Union Power Minister and MP from Karnal, Manohar Lal Khattar, visited the family of slain Indian Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal on Thursday. Vinay was killed in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Khattar paid his respects and comforted the grieving family in Karnal.
An emotional moment happened during the visit when Khattar hugged Vinay’s grandfather, Hawa Singh. Both were seen in tears. Khattar spoke to reporters after the visit and said that the whole world is standing with India in its fight against terrorism. He also shared the steps that the Indian government has taken in response to the attack.
He said the Cabinet Committee on Security had a meeting, and based on that, the Ministry of External Affairs took strong action. He informed that the Attari border with Pakistan has been shut down. No Pakistani citizen will be given a visa to enter India. Those who are already in India have been told to leave the country by May 1. He also said that the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan has been suspended.
Khattar warned that Pakistan should not take this situation lightly. He said many countries around the world support India against terrorism, and India will surely take the necessary steps to respond to the attack.
Khattar was not alone during the visit. BJP MLAs Jagmohan Anand, Yogender Rana, Ramkumar Kashyap, and Parmod Vij accompanied him. BJP district president Parveen Lather and other party leaders were also present.
Leaders unite across parties
Other political leaders also visited the family to pay their respects. Congress MP from Rohtak, Deepender Hooda, met Vinay’s family and offered his condolences. He demanded strong action from the central government in response to the attack. Hooda said that the entire nation stands united, regardless of party lines.
He added that the attackers are enemies of the country and humanity. He urged the government to take the strictest possible action against the terrorists. Hooda said the incident has deeply affected every Indian and that the country knows how to respond firmly.
Ambala MP Varun Mullana, MLA Induraj Narwal, former MLAs Sumita Singh and Balbir Balmiki, Haryana Youth Congress chief Divyanshu Buddhiraja, and former deputy mayor Manoj Wadhwa were also among those who visited the grieving family. Rajya Sabha MPs Randeep Surjewala and Kartik Sharma also came to pay their respects. Farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni was present as well.

Public protests and tributes
In Karnal, the death of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal sparked a wave of grief. People from all walks of life, including social groups, religious organizations, and political parties, held various events to pay tribute to him and condemn the attack.
A large candle march was taken out in the town by several religious and social groups. People carried posters and flags in Vinay’s honour. The members of Arya Samaj also held a hawan yagya (sacred fire ritual) to offer prayers for the brave officer.
The mobile and accessories market in Karnal remained closed for an hour as a mark of respect. During this time, traders also participated in a protest march. The merchants of Karan Gate and nearby areas announced a complete market shutdown on Friday till 1 pm.
Students also paid their respects. Children from Tagore Bal Niketan School observed a silent protest. They wore black ribbons and held a prayer ceremony in memory of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal.
People across Karnal came together in sorrow and solidarity. The city mourned the loss of a brave soldier who gave his life in the line of duty. Many are demanding justice and action from the government to ensure such attacks do not happen again.
