The Haryana government has started an important voter verification process called the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). This process began on June 15, 2026, and is meant to make the state’s voter list more correct and updated.
According to Haryana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) A. Sreenivas, around 34 per cent of the required enumeration forms have already been distributed by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). These officers are visiting homes across the state to make sure all eligible people are included in the voter list.
The Election Commission wants every citizen to take part in this process so that no eligible voter is left out and no ineligible person is added.
The CEO has asked people to cooperate with the BLOs when they visit their homes.
Why the voter revision is important
The Special Intensive Revision is a process used to update voter lists. It helps the Election Commission check whether the names on the electoral roll are correct.
This is important because voter lists should only include people who are eligible to vote.
According to officials, the main aim of the SIR is simple — every eligible citizen should have the right to vote, and no disqualified person should be listed.
The CEO explained that any Indian citizen who is 18 years old or older by the qualifying date can apply to be a voter. However, they must not be disqualified under any law.
This means if a person meets the age and legal requirements, they have the right to be added to the voter list.
The CEO also said that if all eligible voters submit their forms before July 14, their names will be included in the draft electoral rolls.
This is why the government is encouraging people not to delay.
Many people often miss deadlines and later face problems during elections. Officials want to avoid that this time.
The voter list is important because it decides who can cast their vote in future elections.
A correct list also helps stop mistakes such as duplicate names or names of people who are no longer eligible.
This process is being done carefully to make the electoral system stronger and more transparent.

How people can submit their forms
During this drive, BLOs are going door-to-door and giving forms to existing voters. These forms are called enumeration forms.
People can fill these forms and give them back to the BLOs.
There is also an online option for those who prefer digital submission.
This makes the process easier for many people.
The CEO said that BLOs are carrying at least 30 blank Form-6 applications and declaration forms during their visits.
This is useful for people who are not yet registered as voters.
If someone wants to become a new voter, they can get the form immediately from the BLO.
This saves time and makes registration easier.
The Election Commission has also involved political parties in the process.
Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from recognised political parties can help in collecting forms.
Each BLA can collect up to 50 enumeration forms every day and submit them to the BLO.
This step is meant to increase participation and speed up the process.
Officials believe this teamwork will help complete the revision faster.
For those who miss the July 14 deadline, there is still another chance.
They can apply during the claims and objections period, which will take place from July 21 to August 20.
During this time, they can submit Form-6 along with the required declaration form.
This gives voters an extra opportunity to make sure their names are included.
The Election Commission is reminding people not to wait until the last moment.
Officials say early submission will make the process smoother.
The CEO stressed that active public participation is necessary for fair elections.
He said a clean and updated voter list is the backbone of democracy.
Many people in Haryana have already started cooperating, but much work still remains.
With only 34 per cent forms distributed so far, officials are hoping the number will rise quickly in the coming days.
People are being advised to keep their documents ready and respond when BLOs visit.
The Election Commission says this is a simple but very important process.
By taking a few minutes to complete the form, citizens can protect their right to vote.
The voter revision drive will continue over the next few weeks.
Authorities are hopeful that with public support, Haryana will have a more accurate and error-free electoral roll before the next elections.
