Ayodhya's Ram Mandir: First and Second Floors set to complete by December 2024, confirms Temple Official

The chairperson of the temple construction committee, Nripendra Misra, revealed that the construction of the three-storeyed Ram temple in Ayodhya is on track for completion by December this year. The sprawling temple complex, currently in the initial phase, is expected to have additional structures.

As of now, the ground floor has been built, and the construction is progressing with the first and second floors targeted for completion by December 2024. Misra, in an interview withPTI, emphasized the adherence to the principles espoused by Lord Ram, referred to as "maryada," during the execution of the work.

Challenges and resolution

When asked about challenges in the construction process, Misra acknowledged daily challenges but expressed confidence in their resolution. Challenges were reported to be resolved organically, with solutions emerging the next morning.

The committee aims to meet the expectations of devotees regarding construction quality and longevity. Misra conveyed their hope that the temple will last at least 1,000 years, underscoring the increased responsibility associated with such longevity.

Idol selection and future plans

The decision on selecting the idol for the temple will be made by the trust's general secretary, Champat Rai. Three sculptors are currently working on three idols, and the trust will decide the installation of one of them in the temple's sanctum sanctorum.

Misra estimated that, after the temple opens to the public, they anticipate a daily influx of 75,000 to one lakh people over the next 4-5 months.

The construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya gained momentum following a 2019 Supreme Court verdict that paved the way for the construction of the temple at the disputed site, directing the Centre to allocate an alternative five-acre plot for a new mosque. The disputed land was entrusted to a central government receiver for the temple construction.
