NEET UG 2025 counselling dates to be announced soon: all you need to know

The counselling process for NEET UG 2025 is expected to begin soon, but the official announcement regarding the dates has not yet been made. Students who have cleared the NEET UG 2025 exam and are eligible for admission to MBBS, BDS, and BSc-Nursing courses must stay alert and check the official website of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) regularly for updates.

To participate in the counselling, candidates must register on the MCC’s website. Only those who qualify for the exam and meet the required cut-off will be allowed to take part in the seat allotment process. The counselling is done for various types of seats in medical and dental colleges all across India.

Types of counselling rounds

There are four major types of NEET UG counselling rounds:

  1. All India Quota (AIQ) – 15%
This is handled by the MCC and includes MBBS and BDS seats in Central and Deemed Universities. Institutions like AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU, and AMU fall under this category.

  2. State Quota – 85%
Each state conducts its own counselling for 85% of the seats available in government and private colleges. Candidates from the respective states can apply for these.

  3. Deemed and Central Universities Counselling
All seats in deemed and central universities (such as AIIMS and JIPMER) are managed under this round by the MCC.

  4. Private Medical Colleges Counselling
Private colleges carry out their own counselling procedures, mostly based on NEET scores, although some may include additional criteria.

Also, for AYUSH courses like BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS, the All-India Ayush Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) conducts the counselling. The same committee handles BHMS admissions under NCH.

Counselling Schedule and Process

Usually, the counselling for NEET UG starts around July or August, about a month after the result is declared. State-level counselling usually begins during the same time, but the actual dates can vary from one state to another. As of now, there is no confirmed schedule.

Candidates are advised to be ready with their documents. During the counselling, their eligibility, documents, and declarations will be verified. If anything is missing or incorrect, the seat may get cancelled.
