The India Meteorological Department (IMD) office in Shimla has shared the latest weather update for Himachal Pradesh. According to them, dry weather will continue on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday across the entire state. No rain is expected during these three days.
The weather department also said that temperatures will rise during the next few days. The maximum temperatures are likely to go up by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next 4 to 5 days. The minimum temperatures will also rise by 3 to 5 degrees during the same period. This means both day and night temperatures will become slightly warmer across the state.
In the last 24 hours, there was no rain recorded anywhere in Himachal Pradesh. The weather stayed dry, and there was no big change in the maximum and minimum temperatures either. On Sunday, Una district recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state, which was 42.0 degrees Celsius. After Una, the hottest places were Bilaspur at 37.9 degrees, Dhaulakhan at 37.4 degrees, and Berthin at 37.2 degrees Celsius.
In fact, many parts of the state saw maximum temperatures higher than the usual levels. In the plains, the maximum temperatures were between 32 to 40 degrees Celsius. In the mid-hill areas, the temperatures were between 26 to 35 degrees Celsius. These are higher than what is normally recorded in these areas during this time of the year.
On the other hand, high-hill areas of Himachal Pradesh had cooler temperatures. The maximum temperatures in these regions stayed between 15 to 21 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time. The minimum temperatures in many plains and high-hill stations were a little below normal during the last 24 hours.
Rain expected from May 1
The IMD also predicted that there might be some changes soon. Light rain is expected at a few places in Himachal Pradesh from May 1 to May 3. This could bring a little relief from the rising temperatures. However, the rain is expected only in a few parts and may not cover the entire state.
Another important update from the IMD is about the rainfall record for the month of April. Himachal Pradesh has received 30% less rainfall than normal this month so far. This means that the state has been facing a shortage of rain during April.
Many districts have recorded a major shortage of rainfall. Kullu district had the highest rainfall deficit at 39% till April 27. After Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti district recorded a 38% shortage in rainfall. This shortage in rainfall can affect agriculture and water availability in the coming months if it continues.

Only a few districts have seen more rainfall than usual. These districts include Bilaspur, Solan, and Hamirpur. Bilaspur recorded 25% more rainfall, Solan had 7% more, and Hamirpur recorded 3% more rainfall compared to normal.
This shortage of rainfall is a concern because Himachal Pradesh depends on regular rain for farming and drinking water supply. Less rain can also lead to dry conditions, making it difficult for farmers and increasing the risk of forest fires.
Overall, the weather in Himachal Pradesh is expected to stay dry for a few more days, with temperatures rising. Light rain is likely at a few places starting May 1, which may help bring some relief. However, the rainfall shortage this month remains a serious concern for the state.
