Himachal girls outperform boys in CBSE class 10 and 12 exams

Girls in Himachal Pradesh have performed better than boys in the CBSE Class 10 and 12 exams. This follows the national pattern where girls are often seen scoring higher marks and having better pass percentages.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results of Class 10 and Class 12 on Tuesday. In Himachal Pradesh, 17,177 students appeared in Class 10 exams. Out of these, 16,706 students passed, making the overall pass percentage 97.26%.

Among the girls, 7,661 appeared and 7,515 cleared the exam, making the girls' pass percentage 97.26%. For the boys, 9,516 appeared and 9,191 passed. The boys' pass percentage stood at 96.58%. Although the difference is small, girls have still done slightly better than boys in Class 10 results.

In Class 12, 11,385 students from Himachal Pradesh appeared for the exams. Of these, 6,058 were boys and 5,327 were girls. Among the girls, 5,062 passed, which makes a pass percentage of 95.03%. On the other hand, 5,499 boys cleared the exam, with a pass percentage of 90.77%.

This shows that girls have once again performed better than boys in the Class 12 results as well. The trend is encouraging for girl students and shows their growing academic success in the state.

Comparison with other regions

Students from Himachal Pradesh have done better than many others in the Panchkula region. The Panchkula region includes both Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. However, when compared with the Chandigarh region, Himachal students had slightly lower pass percentages.

In Class 12, the Chandigarh region recorded a pass percentage of 91.61%. The Panchkula region had a pass percentage of 91.17%. In Class 10, the Chandigarh region recorded 93.71% and the Panchkula region recorded 92.77%.

The Chandigarh region covers areas like Chandigarh, Punjab, Ladakh, and Jammu and Kashmir. Despite these numbers, Himachal Pradesh showed strong performance overall, with girls leading the success story.

This result highlights the academic growth in the state and the continued progress of girl students. The performance gap between girls and boys is small, but it clearly shows that girls are consistently doing well in board exams in Himachal Pradesh.
