Haryana CM inaugurates first commercial Hisar-Chandigarh flight
On Monday, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini flagged off the first commercial flight from Hisar’s Maharaja Agrasen International Airport to Chandigarh’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. The new flight service marks an important development in improving air connectivity in the state.
The new flight from Hisar to Chandigarh will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. The flight will leave Hisar at 4:55 pm and reach Chandigarh at 5:55 pm. The return flight from Chandigarh will depart at 3:20 pm and land in Hisar at around 4:30 pm. The distance between the two cities will be covered in about 70 minutes.
Speaking at the launch, CM Saini shared that more air routes will soon be introduced from Hisar to cities like Jaipur, Jammu, and Ahmedabad. He said that the goal is to make air travel available for everyone, including common people, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream.
Saini referred to an earlier milestone when, on April 14, PM Modi flagged off the first commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya. He said that connecting Hisar with Chandigarh is another big step for the people of Haryana. “This is a proud moment for Haryana residents,” the CM added.
The cost of air tickets between Hisar and Chandigarh will range from ₹1,449 to ₹1,704. From Chandigarh to Hisar, the ticket costs ₹1,979. A 48-seater aircraft from Alliance Air is being used for this service. On the first day of the service, all 48 seats were booked, and the flight took off successfully.

Haryana’s civil aviation minister, Vipul Goel, was also present at the event. He said that this service will also benefit nearby states like Punjab and Rajasthan. “The new flights will help boost the industrial sector in Hisar and help the city grow as an important industrial centre,” Goel said.
Saini added that the region around Hisar is growing rapidly. He said that the government is working to turn Hisar into an industrial hub. Improved air connectivity will help bring more businesses, investments, and jobs to the area. The CM believes that better infrastructure is the key to fast development.
Along with the CM and civil aviation minister, other leaders including cabinet minister Ranbir Gangwa and former health minister Kamal Gupta also boarded the first flight. Their presence highlighted the importance of the event for the state.

The civil aviation department reported that since the launch of flights from Hisar to Ayodhya on April 14, around 750 passengers have already used the service. This shows that there is a strong demand for regional air travel from Hisar.
The launch of the Hisar-Chandigarh flight is part of a larger plan to connect smaller cities with bigger ones through air travel. This is expected to boost tourism, improve business opportunities, and make travel easier for residents.
Overall, this new flight service is a big step forward for Haryana. It not only improves travel options for residents but also shows that the state is moving towards better infrastructure and faster development. With plans for more flight routes, Hisar could soon become a key air travel hub in northern India.
