Explosion at Nuh gun shop leaves several injured

Five people hurt in blast at gun shop in Haryana’s Nuh district

At least five people were injured after an explosion took place at a licensed gun shop in Haryana’s Nuh district on Monday afternoon, police officials said. The blast occurred at a shop located on Jogpur Road and caused partial damage to the building. Fortunately, no one suffered serious injuries, and all the injured were discharged after receiving first aid.

According to police, the injured included people who were present inside the shop as well as some who were nearby when the explosion occurred. Soon after the incident, the area was sealed off, and several emergency and investigation teams were rushed to the spot.

A bomb detection and disposal squad, forensic experts, and dog squads reached the site to examine the scene and determine the cause of the explosion. Fire department officials were also deployed as a precautionary measure, as investigators suspected the presence of inflammable materials in the area.

Explosion during repair work suspected

Police said preliminary findings suggest that repair work was underway at the time of the explosion. Nuh police public relations officer Krishan Kumar said that malfunctioning non-prohibited bore weapons belonging to civilians were being repaired at the shop.

“The blast is suspected to have occurred during repair work involving the use of blow torches connected to gas cylinders,” Kumar said. Such tools are commonly used in gun repair shops to fix weapon parts, but they can be dangerous if safety measures are not followed properly.

The gun shop, named Satyam Gun House, is a licensed establishment authorised to sell and repair firearms. Police confirmed that the shop’s licence is registered in the name of Tahir Hussain, a resident of Nuh. Officials stressed that the shop is legally permitted to operate, and there is no indication at this stage of any illegal activity.

Investigators said the explosion could have been caused by a technical fault or accidental ignition during the repair process. However, they added that the exact cause has not yet been confirmed and will only be known after a detailed forensic examination.

The blast damaged a portion of the shop, scattering debris inside and around the premises. Nearby shopkeepers and residents said they heard a loud sound and rushed outside, fearing something serious had happened.

Police investigation and safety measures

Soon after the explosion, police cordoned off the area to prevent people from entering the site. Officials said the step was necessary as the shop may still contain dangerous materials, including live cartridges and other inflammable items.

“For safety reasons, the entire area has been secured. There could be unexploded or flammable materials present,” an investigating officer said. Fire department teams remained on standby to handle any emergency situation.

Forensic experts began collecting samples from the site to analyse what triggered the blast. The bomb detection and disposal squad carefully checked the premises to rule out the presence of any explosive device or suspicious object.

Dog squads were also deployed to assist investigators and ensure that no hidden threats remained at the location. Police said these measures were taken purely as a precaution and to ensure public safety.

The injured persons were taken to the community health centre in Nuh, where they were given first aid. Doctors said their injuries were minor, and none of them were in critical condition. After treatment, all five were discharged.

Police officials said statements of the injured and eyewitnesses are being recorded as part of the investigation. Shop employees and nearby vendors are also being questioned to understand what exactly happened before the explosion.

Authorities have also started reviewing safety protocols followed at licensed gun shops in the district. Officials said they will check whether proper safety equipment was available and whether standard operating procedures were being followed during repair work.

Senior police officers said strict action will be taken if any negligence is found. “If safety rules were violated, we will proceed according to the law,” an officer said.

Local residents expressed concern over the incident, saying gun shops should follow strict safety standards, especially when repairs are carried out. Some residents also demanded regular inspections of such shops to prevent similar accidents in the future.

Police assured the public that there is no threat to the surrounding area and that the situation is under control. They said the investigation is ongoing and more details will be shared once forensic reports are received.

For now, the gun shop remains closed as authorities continue their probe. Police said the priority is to ensure public safety and identify the exact cause of the explosion so that similar incidents can be avoided in the future.
