Pathak called for a judicial inquiry into every instance of death that occurs while an individual is in police custody.

The Congress leader criticized the state government and police administration for their lack of control over such incidents. She deemed this situation as extremely dangerous for the public and emphasized the importance of accountability and adherence to the rule of law. Following the recent death of jailed gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, there have been widespread calls for investigations into the circumstances surrounding his demise. Ansari's family, along with political leaders like Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati, have demanded high-level inquiries into the matter. Additionally, Bhim Army founder and Aazad Samaj Party president Chandra Shekhar Aazad has urged for a CBI investigation.
