Chinese military asserts stability amid India-China border tensions

The Chinese military has given its take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent comments about the ongoing border dispute between India and China. Current situation described as "generally stable"

The Defence Ministry spokesman, Senior Colonel Wu Qian, emphasized that both India and China have maintained effective communication through diplomatic and military channels. This communication has resulted in positive and constructive dialogues, leading to significant progress in resolving the military standoff. Wu's remarks came in response to PM Modi's statements and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's reported comments regarding the ongoing dialogue between India and China to address border tensions.

In his recent interview, PM Modi expressed hope for positive engagement between India and China at diplomatic and military levels. He stressed the importance of resolving the prolonged border situation to restore peace and stability. Modi reiterated the significance of stable and peaceful relations between the two nations for the well-being of the entire region and the world.

The border standoff between India and China in eastern Ladakh has led to a freeze in bilateral ties, except for trade, since May 2020.

Both countries have engaged in multiple rounds of talks to address the standoff, with some progress made in disengagement from certain points. However, India continues to advocate for a mutually acceptable solution to restore normalcy along the border, emphasizing the importance of stable relations between the two nations.
