Chandigarh Administration Unveils Annual Activity Calendar- 2026 to Promote Energy Efficiency & Conservation

In a commitment to environmental stewardship and the protection of our planet for future generations, the Chandigarh Administration has unveiled its Annual Activity Calendar for Energy Efficiency and Conservation for the year 2026.

The official launch was led by Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary Engineering, Chandigarh Administration, in the presence of Sh. C.B. Ojha, Chief Engineer, and Sh. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Head- Energy Management Cell, alongside their dedicated team.

This initiative represents more than a strategic schedule; rather, it is a solemn pledge to foster a collective culture of mindfulness, efficiency, and environmental care within the Union Territory. The calendar was meticulously prepared for the Energy Management Cell (EMC) / State Designated Agency (SDA) of Chandigarh, which operates under the Engineering Department of Chandigarh Administration.

This comprehensive roadmap outlines a series of planned initiatives and programmes designed to promote energy conservation and awareness among a wide array of stakeholders, including government departments, educational institutions, industries, and the general public. Every activity scheduled within the calendar is designed to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, and the national objectives established by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power.
Throughout the year, the administration will undertake a diverse range of activities, including awareness campaigns, capacity-building programmes, and specialized training sessions. A significant emphasis is placed on inspiring the next generation through competitions for students and youth, ensuring that the spirit of energy efficiency is carried forward.

Ultimately, the launch of this Annual Activity Calendar reflects the Chandigarh Administration’s deep-seated commitment to sustainable development, the judicious use of resources, and the building of a resilient, energy-efficient future for all its citizens.
