Prayagraj POCSO case: Minors repeat abuse claims in court

In the ongoing Prayagraj POCSO case, two minor boys have repeated their allegations of sexual abuse before a judge, according to police sources. The children reportedly stood by the statements they had earlier given to investigators, describing the alleged incidents in detail.

Sources said one of the minors spoke about abuse that allegedly took place at multiple locations, including Joshimath, Kedarnath, the Kumbh Mela and the Magh Mela. Officials added that medical examinations have supported parts of the children’s accounts, which investigators believe strengthens the case.

Families under pressure

Police sources said the minors come from very poor families and that their fathers are under significant stress. There are reports that supporters of Avimukteshwaranand have created pressure, leading to fear among the families.

Because of this situation, authorities are treating the matter as highly sensitive. Investigators are trying to ensure the safety and confidence of the families while the legal process continues.

Police wait for court hearing

Police officials said they are moving carefully and reviewing all statements before taking further action. No notices have been issued so far, and there is currently no plan to travel to Varanasi as part of the probe.

The investigation is being closely monitored by senior Prayagraj police officers. Meanwhile, the Allahabad High Court is scheduled to hear Avimukteshwaranand’s anticipatory bail plea on February 26.

Authorities are expected to decide their next steps after the court’s order. Sources also indicated that while more victims could possibly emerge, the present investigation remains focused on the two minors to build a strong and legally sound case.
