Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark his birthday on September 17 by inaugurating India’s largest textile park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. The massive PM Mitra Textile Park, spread over 2,100 acres, is a flagship project under the government’s plan to strengthen the textile sector and create large-scale employment opportunities.
The park will be the first in India to fully adopt the government’s “5F model”—Farm, Fiber, Factory, Fashion, and Foreigner—bringing the entire textile chain together in one integrated facility. It is designed to promote sustainable growth with eco-friendly features like solar power and a zero liquid discharge system to prevent environmental harm.
Jobs and opportunities for local communities
One of the biggest highlights of the textile park is its potential to create over 3 lakh jobs. Both direct and indirect employment will be generated, with a focus on providing opportunities for tribal workers and women from nearby districts such as Dhar, Jhabua, Alirajpur, and Barwani.
The project is expected to not only boost the textile industry but also improve the economic conditions of local communities. The park will serve as a hub where large companies and smaller industries can work together, benefitting both big investors and local entrepreneurs.
The PM Mitra initiative is not limited to Madhya Pradesh. Similar textile parks are planned in six other states—Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Together, these parks are expected to transform India into a stronger global player in textiles, clothing, and fashion exports.
Modern facilities and eco-friendly design
The textile park in Dhar will offer modern facilities tailored to meet the needs of both domestic and international companies. There will be 81 industrial plots available at fixed rates for micro, small, and medium industries. “Plug and play” sheds with ready electricity and water connections will be provided to help companies begin operations quickly without waiting for infrastructure setup.
A large logistics hub, warehouses, and extensive parking areas for container trucks will support easy transportation of goods. With its strategic location near major highways and ports like Mumbai’s JNPT and Gujarat’s Kandla, the park will have strong connectivity for both exports and domestic trade.
The project will also focus on sustainability. About 150 megawatts of power will be required daily, out of which 10 megawatts will be supplied by solar panels. Industrial wastewater will be treated continuously, ensuring zero liquid discharge, and 20 million liters of treated water will be reused daily for cleaning and maintaining greenery in the park.
To make life easier for workers, the park will include a 3,500-bed hostel, dormitories, commercial complexes, a hospital, and even a petrol pump. These facilities will make the park a self-sustained ecosystem, allowing workers to live and work in the same area with better amenities.

Boost for exports and global standards
The location of the park in Badanavar, Dhar, has been carefully chosen for its excellent connectivity. Goods manufactured here can quickly reach international markets through expressways and nearby ports. This makes it easier for companies to do business globally and meet tight deadlines for exports.
Special attention will also be given to labor welfare and environmental balance. The government wants this textile park to meet global standards, especially those demanded by European markets that prioritize eco-friendly production and fair labor practices. By meeting these standards, the park is expected to attract more foreign investment and help Indian textiles find a stronger presence in international markets.
Overall, the Dhar textile park represents more than just a large industrial facility. It is a step toward combining sustainability, employment, and industrial growth in one project. On his birthday, Prime Minister Modi’s inauguration of this mega project is being seen as both symbolic and significant for the country’s textile industry and the workers who form its backbone.
