Party turmoil in Uttarakhand

Congress leader resigns over dynastic politics

As of my last update in January 2022, Rajesh Rastogi, PCC general secretary and Seva Dal's state chief in Uttarakhand, has resigned from all posts within the Congress party. He cited the dominance of dynastic politics within the party as the reason for his resignation. Here's a simplified version of the information:

Resignation over dynastic politics

Rajesh Rastogi, a grassroots leader in Uttarakhand, has stepped down from his roles in the Congress party. He expressed concerns about the party's increasing reliance on dynastic politics, stating that it is harming the party's prospects.

Rastogi criticized former Chief Minister Harish Rawat for securing a Lok Sabha ticket for his son from Haridwar constituency. He accused party leaders of promoting factionalism and selling tickets, warning that if these issues are not addressed, the Congress may struggle even in opposition.

Allegations of dynastic promotion

He claimed that if an honest leader like Pritam Singh had been made the face of the party in the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress might still be in power in Uttarakhand. Rastogi also mentioned that other senior Congress leaders may resign due to dissatisfaction with Rawat's promotion of dynastic politics.

The Uttarakhand Congress has witnessed several members leaving in recent months, including sitting legislator Rajendra Singh Bhandari from Badrinath and former MLAs. This move highlights the ongoing internal challenges and dissent within the Congress party in Uttarakhand.
