New Amrit Bharat Trains Introduced: Timetable, Routes Revealed

Indian Railways Launches Two New Amrit Bharat Trains; Routes Announced

In an important announcement, Indian Railways has introduced two new Amrit Bharat Express trains. These trains are expected to improve long-distance travel and connectivity for passengers in states such as Bihar, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu.

The two new trains are:

  1. Erode-Jogbani Amrit Bharat Express (16601/16602)

  2. Saharsa-Chherta (Amritsar) Amrit Bharat Express (14627/14628)

The East Central Railway (ECR) confirmed that both trains will run regularly, offering passengers faster and more convenient travel between key cities and smaller towns along the routes. These trains are designed to serve passengers looking for economical and efficient travel options over long distances.

The Saharsa-Chherta (Amritsar) Amrit Bharat Express will operate weekly. It will depart from Chherta every Friday at 10:20 pm and arrive in Saharsa on Monday at 10:00 am. On the return journey, it will leave Saharsa every Monday at 1:00 pm and reach Chherta at 3:20 am on Wednesday.

The Erode-Jogbani Amrit Bharat Express will start running from September 25. It will leave Erode (Tamil Nadu) every Thursday at 8:10 am and reach Jogbani (Araria, Bihar) at 7 pm on Saturday. The return journey will begin from Jogbani every Sunday at 3:15 pm, arriving in Erode at 7:20 am on Wednesday.

These trains are expected to make travel easier for passengers who commute between North and South India. By connecting major cities and smaller towns, these trains will save time and reduce travel hassles.

Routes and stops for passengers

The Erode-Jogbani Amrit Bharat Express will stop at several important stations along the route. Key stops include: Supaul, Saraigarh, Nirmali, Jhanjharpur, Sakri, Shisho Halt, Sitamarhi, Raxaul, Narkatiaganj, Gorakhpur, Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Sitapur, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Roorkee, Jagadhri, Ambala Cantt, Rajpura, Sirhind, Dhandari Kalan, Phagwara, Jalandhar City, Beas, Amritsar Junction, and Chherta.

The Chherta-Saharsa Amrit Bharat Express will have 22 coaches, including sleeper and general classes, making it affordable for passengers from different economic backgrounds. The train is designed to serve passengers who travel long distances but prefer economical fares.

These trains will provide a reliable travel option for passengers visiting smaller towns, which often do not have direct long-distance train services. The introduction of Amrit Bharat trains is a step forward in connecting different regions of India, promoting easier movement, and supporting tourism and business travel between the North and South.

Officials at the East Central Railway said that these trains are part of Indian Railways’ plan to expand connectivity across states and make train travel more comfortable. Both trains will reduce travel time significantly compared to other long-distance train options and are expected to become popular with regular travelers and new passengers alike.

Benefits for passengers and regions

The Erode-Jogbani train will connect Tamil Nadu with Bihar, linking South India with the North. Passengers from smaller cities along the route will benefit, as they can now travel directly without changing trains or taking multiple connections. Similarly, the Saharsa-Chherta train will connect towns in Bihar with Punjab, supporting long-distance travel for work, education, and family visits.

Passengers will also experience better comfort and convenience. Sleeper coaches will allow travelers to rest during the long journey, and general coaches will remain affordable for everyday passengers. By providing more travel options, these trains will help decongest other long-distance trains on similar routes.

The introduction of Amrit Bharat trains also demonstrates Indian Railways’ commitment to linking remote areas with major cities. Towns like Sitamarhi, Narkatiaganj, and Rajpura, which have limited train options, will now enjoy better connectivity, helping passengers save both time and money.

Officials expect that these trains will also encourage more people to travel by train instead of road transport. This can reduce traffic on highways, lower travel costs, and provide a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative for long-distance travel.

Overall, the two new Amrit Bharat trains are an important addition to the Indian Railways network. They will enhance travel efficiency, improve connectivity between distant regions, and offer passengers a comfortable and cost-effective way to travel. With services starting from September 20 for the Saharsa-Chherta train and September 25 for the Erode-Jogbani train, passengers can plan their journeys in advance and enjoy a seamless travel experience.
