After a recent incident involving a technical snag in an aircraft in Ahmedabad, another case has emerged—this time in Chandigarh. On Sunday morning, an IndiGo flight that was supposed to fly from Chandigarh to Lucknow was stopped from taking off due to a sudden technical problem. All passengers were safely deboarded after the issue was discovered. Investigations into the malfunction are currently underway.
All passengers were already onboard
According to initial reports, passengers had completed boarding procedures and were already seated inside the aircraft. The flight, operated by IndiGo, was scheduled to depart from Chandigarh on Sunday morning. While preparing for takeoff, a technical fault was detected, forcing the ground crew and flight authorities to cancel the takeoff for safety reasons. The crew took prompt action to ensure passenger safety and immediately stopped the flight from moving ahead.
Once the technical glitch came to light, the airline halted the takeoff and began emergency protocols. Passengers were asked to deboard the aircraft. They were then taken back to the terminal safely. IndiGo staff were seen assisting them and providing updates as the situation unfolded.
Several passengers expressed frustration as their travel plans were disrupted. Many had important commitments in Lucknow and were worried about delays. Some passengers even reported they were traveling for medical emergencies, while others had business or personal appointments scheduled.
One of the passengers shared that they had boarded the flight early in the morning and were ready to depart, but suddenly the crew made an announcement about a delay due to technical issues. A few minutes later, all passengers were requested to leave the plane. Although everyone was safe, the sudden halt caused distress and confusion among travelers.
IndiGo responds
In a brief statement, IndiGo confirmed that a technical issue had affected the aircraft and that safety protocols were immediately initiated. “The aircraft scheduled to operate flight from Chandigarh to Lucknow on Sunday morning experienced a technical issue during pre-flight checks. All passengers were deboarded as a precautionary measure, and necessary inspections are being carried out,” the airline said.
They further added that the safety of passengers and crew is their top priority. Efforts are being made to accommodate passengers on alternate flights or to provide suitable compensation or rebooking options.
This incident comes shortly after a similar case in Ahmedabad, where an aircraft also reported a technical fault just before takeoff. The increasing frequency of such issues in passenger flights is raising concerns among travelers and aviation experts alike.
Aviation analysts are pointing out that technical issues in aircraft are not uncommon, but their growing frequency across various airports in India suggests the need for stricter maintenance checks and safety audits. It is important for airline companies to ensure timely servicing and thorough inspection of all aircraft to avoid such mid-operation complications.

Sources within the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) hinted that such repeated incidents will not be taken lightly. The regulator may issue new directives to airlines regarding more stringent pre-flight technical checks. If necessary, surprise audits or checks may also be ordered to ensure full compliance with safety regulations.
As of now, most passengers have been shifted back to the terminal and are waiting for updates from the airline. Some were being provided food and refreshments, while others expressed disappointment with the lack of proper communication from the ground staff initially.
Efforts are ongoing to either resolve the technical issue on the current aircraft or arrange an alternate flight for the stranded passengers. However, delays are expected, and passengers have been advised to stay alert for further notifications.
While the quick action taken by the airline and crew helped avoid any safety risk, the incident has once again highlighted the need for regular technical checks and passenger support systems. As the travel season continues, such delays and breakdowns not only cause inconvenience but also raise questions about the readiness of airline infrastructure in India.
Authorities must ensure that airline operators take all necessary precautions and that passengers are not left waiting with limited information. Frequent flyers hope this incident acts as a wake-up call and leads to better management and preparedness in future flight operations.
