Panchkula, June 11: As part of the district administration's ongoing field inspection campaign to completely curb illegal mining, Deputy Commissioner Sh Satpal Sharma conducted a surprise inspection in Raipur Rani Tehsil today.

 During the inspection, illegal mining activities were detected on approximately five acres of land in Shahjapur village. The Deputy Commissioner took serious note of the violation and directed the concerned officials to initiate immediate action against those involved.

A preliminary inquiry conducted under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner revealed that the land had been excavated to a depth of approximately 20 to 25 feet in violation of applicable regulations. The inquiry further established that gravel and other minerals had been illegally extracted from the site. Evidence also indicated that the excavated area was subsequently backfilled with material to conceal the unauthorized mining activities.

Taking serious note of the matter, Deputy Commissioner Sh. Satpal Sharma directed that a notice be issued to the concerned landowner, seeking an explanation regarding the authorization under which the illegal mining activities were carried out on the land.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that the district administration is pursuing a strict zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining. He emphasized that stringent legal action, in accordance with the law, will be taken against any individual found involved in unauthorized mining activities.

He further reiterated that illegal mining activities are under constant surveillance and that any negligence, lapse, or irregularity at any level will not be tolerated.
