The city of Gurugram in Haryana is all set to get its own metro network for the first time. The project, called the Gurugram Metro, is a major step towards improving public transport and connecting different parts of the city. The route map for Phase 1 has been officially released, and it includes 15 metro stations over a stretch of 15.22 kilometres.
This metro line will also have a 1.85 km spur line connecting to the Dwarka Expressway, and a ramp that will allow access to a new metro depot in Sector 33. Once completed, this project will reduce the city’s heavy dependence on the Delhi Metro and Rapid Metro, offering a self-reliant transport system for residents and daily commuters.
According to officials, the construction work is progressing quickly. The Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has already shortlisted six out of eight construction firms for the project. A mega contract worth ₹1286 crore will be awarded by end of July 2025. Financial bids from the selected companies are currently being reviewed.
Stations and construction phases announced
In Phase 1, the metro line will run from Millennium City Centre to Sector 101. It will connect major areas and provide an interchange with the Delhi Metro at one of the stations, making travel between Gurugram and Delhi easier.
The metro stations to be built in Phase 1 include:
-
Sector 45
-
Cyber Park (Sector 46)
-
Sector 47
-
Subhash Chowk
-
Sector 48
-
Sector 33
-
Hero Honda Chowk
-
Udyog Vihar Phase-6
-
Sector 10
-
Sector 37
-
Basai
-
Sector 9
-
Sector 101
The construction will happen in three stages:
-
Phase 1: From Millennium City Centre to Sector 101
-
Phase 2: From Sector 9 to Cyber Hub
-
Phase 3: Building of the metro depot in Sector 33
Once the entire Gurugram Metro project is completed, it will cover 28.5 km and include 27 stations. Out of these, 13 stations are expected to have a direct impact on the real estate market. Experts say that property prices near these stations could rise by 10–25%, making Gurugram even more attractive to buyers and investors.
Apart from the real estate boost, the metro will improve public transport, reduce traffic jams, and offer a cleaner alternative to petrol and diesel vehicles. For office-goers, students, and local residents, this metro will offer a faster and more comfortable daily travel option.

With 15 stations in the first phase, improved connectivity to Dwarka Expressway, and plans for future phases, this metro system will transform how people travel across the city. The project is also expected to bring economic benefits, especially in the real estate sector, and make Gurugram an even more livable and business-friendly city in the coming years.
