Chandigarh Administration Constitutes High-Level Committees for Promotion and Confirmation of Police Officers
New DPC and DCC framework introduced for Deputy Commandant posts in Chandigarh Police

Chandigarh, May 11 — The Chandigarh Administration has constituted a high-level Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) and Departmental Confirmation Committee (DCC) for the post of Deputy Commandant (IRBn), Group-‘A’, in the Police Department, Union Territory Chandigarh. The move is aimed at strengthening transparency, institutional accountability and administrative efficiency in the promotion and confirmation process of senior police officers.
According to the notification issued by the Home Department, the committees have been constituted in pursuance of directions issued earlier by the Department of Personnel, Chandigarh Administration.
Under the new structure, the Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh, will serve as the Chairman of the committee. The Home Secretary, Secretary Personnel, Director General of Police and Director Social Welfare of the Chandigarh Administration will function as members, while the Director General of Police has also been designated as Member-Convener.
Officials said the restructured mechanism is expected to streamline the promotion and service confirmation procedures in the Chandigarh Police and ensure a more transparent evaluation system for officers holding key positions.
