CBSE 10th result 2025: Board exam didn’t go well? Here’s what to do next

Recheck your marks

Sometimes students feel that they should have gotten more marks than what they received. If you strongly believe your result is not fair or accurate, you can ask CBSE to recheck or re-evaluate your answer sheets.

CBSE tries its best to be accurate when marking exam papers. Still, there is always a small chance that a human or computer error could occur. That’s why CBSE gives students the option to apply for re-evaluation. You can request this service once the results are officially announced. On the result day, CBSE will also release full details about how to apply and the dates for submitting your request. If the board finds any mistake in the evaluation, your marks will be updated.

Let’s say you didn’t pass the exam or don’t want to continue regular schooling. That’s okay too—there are other paths you can take.

One option is to enroll in open schools such as the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). NIOS is recognized by the government and offers more flexible learning options. You can study at your own pace and appear for the exams when you’re ready. This gives you another chance to complete Class 10 and move forward with your education.

Another great path is to join skill development programs. These programs are perfect for students who want to start working early or explore a career in a practical field. One well-known program is the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). This government program teaches students skills that are useful in jobs, like computer work, electrical repair, tailoring, carpentry, and more.

There are also on-the-job training programs available through many private companies. These allow you to learn while you work and build real experience. You can even consider starting your own small business based on your interests and skills. Some students explore creative fields like photography, music, painting, acting, or sports. These areas can lead to successful and satisfying careers with the right training and effort.

If you didn’t pass the CBSE Class 10 exam, don’t feel discouraged. You will get another chance. CBSE gives students the opportunity to appear in supplementary or improvement exams. These exams are held a few months after the main board exams. If you do well in the supplementary exam, you can improve your marks or pass the subject you previously failed.

In 2023:

• The Class 10 and 12 results were declared on May 12, 2023.

• Class 10 had a 93.12% pass rate, and Class 12 had 92.21%.

• CBSE started collecting names of students for supplementary exams from June 1, 2023.

• Students had to contact their schools and fill out the form to appear in the supplementary exam.

• The Class 10 supplementary exam was held on July 17, 2023.

• The supplementary results were announced on August 4, 2023.

In 2024:

• The Class 10 result was announced on May 13, 2024.

• The pass percentage was 93.06% for Class 10 and 87.98% for Class 12.

• The Class 10 compartment exams were conducted from July 15 to 22, 2024.

• The results of the supplementary exams were declared on August 5, 2024.

This shows that CBSE provides a proper system for students to try again and succeed.
