India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in Cyprus and discussed the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, peace efforts and relations between India and Ukraine.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of an important European Union meeting called the Gymnich Forum. Jaishankar travelled to Cyprus after receiving an invitation from the European Union to attend the informal meeting of foreign ministers from EU member countries.
The talks between the two ministers focused on the Ukraine conflict, current developments in the war and ways to improve cooperation between India and Ukraine.
Jaishankar also met senior leaders from Europe and Saudi Arabia during the visit, showing India’s growing diplomatic engagement with different parts of the world.

Although India is not a member of the EU, Jaishankar attended the meeting at the invitation of European leaders.
On the sidelines of the forum, he met Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
According to Jaishankar, both leaders exchanged views on the Russia-Ukraine war and discussed bilateral cooperation between India and Ukraine.
In a message shared on social media, Jaishankar said they had meaningful discussions about the conflict and the relationship between the two countries.
No detailed official statement about the meeting was immediately released, but both sides shared some information publicly.
The meeting came at a time when the Russia-Ukraine war continues and many countries are discussing peace efforts and global cooperation.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha later shared details of the meeting on social media.
He said he and Jaishankar discussed Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine and the latest battlefield situation.
Sybiha said he spoke about Ukraine’s military efforts and the country’s position during the war.
According to him, Ukraine remains determined despite attacks and continues efforts to defend itself.
He also referred to recent strikes on Kyiv and said Ukraine was staying strong even during difficult conditions.
Sybiha said Ukraine wants to end the war and achieve what he described as a long-lasting and complete peace.
He added that peace efforts and international support were also part of the discussion with Jaishankar.
Ukraine, according to Sybiha, hopes for stronger global engagement from countries around the world.
He also mentioned that Europe is increasing its responsibility in dealing with the crisis and welcomed India’s role and voice in peace discussions.
India has repeatedly called for peace and dialogue in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
