Prime Video has released a new series titled Do You Wanna Partner, starring Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty in lead roles. This quirky comedy-drama focuses on female friendship, entrepreneurship, and the challenges of entering a male-dominated industry. The story revolves around two childhood best friends who decide to launch their own craft beer brand. While the series highlights important issues like gender bias and workplace sexism, it also mixes in humour, drama, and music to keep audiences entertained.
The show is directed by Collin D’Cunha and Archit Kumar and written by Nandini Gupta, Nidhi Sethia, and Aarsh Vora. It features a strong cast, including Jaaved Jaaferi, Neeraj Kabi, Shweta Tiwari, Rannvijay Singha, Nakuul Mehta, and others. Despite its flaws, the show offers a light-hearted take on business struggles, relationships, and social barriers.
The series begins with an unusual scene. Shikha Roy Chowdhury (Tamannaah Bhatia), Anahita Makujina (Diana Penty), and Dylon Thomas (Jaaved Jaaferi) are kidnapped and taken to a police station. From there, the story unfolds in reverse and slowly reveals why they ended up in that situation.
Shikha and Anahita, who were sidelined in their careers, decide to follow Shikha’s late father’s dream by reviving his beer recipe called Gondogol. They rename it Jugaaro and plan to make it a successful brand. However, entering the alcohol business is not easy. They face problems like licensing, finding funds, and convincing the market. Soon, they realise that gender bias is one of the biggest obstacles, as people doubt their ability to run a beer company.
To overcome this, they create a fictional male character, David Jones, to represent their brand. They even hire actor Dylon Thomas (Jaaved Jaaferi) to play David when needed. While this plan works for some time, it also creates new troubles.
With help from Anahita’s brother Firdaus (Sufi Motiwala) and brew master Bobby Bagga (Nakuul Mehta), they develop their product. But when an accident at the production site wipes out their funds, they borrow money from gangster Laila Singh (Shweta Tiwari). This leads to another conflict, as Laila demands to meet David, the fictional founder. Meanwhile, business rival Vikram Walia (Neeraj Kabi), who once betrayed Shikha’s father, causes strikes and further chaos.
The show mixes all these challenges with humour and emotional moments, keeping viewers hooked to see if Shikha and Anahita can achieve their dream.
Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty shine in their roles as best friends trying to balance friendship, ambition, and challenges in business. Their chemistry feels natural, though their characters do not show much growth by the end of the series. Jaaved Jaaferi is the standout performer, bringing both humour and depth as Dylon Thomas, who doubles up as David Jones. His comic timing and emotional range add strength to the story.
The supporting cast is also impressive. Shweta Tiwari plays a stylish and intimidating gangster, Laila Singh, while Neeraj Kabi once again delivers a strong performance as the antagonist. Nakuul Mehta as Bobby Bagga and Rannvijay Singha as Kabir do justice to their roles, though their screen time is limited. Sufi Motiwala as Firdaus adds fun and charm to the story. Indraneil Sengupta appears in flashbacks as Shikha’s father and leaves a lasting impact.
The direction by Collin D’Cunha and Archit Kumar balances humour and social themes well, though some scenes feel predictable. The kidnapping twist and certain dramatic turns can be guessed early. Also, the writing sometimes feels stretched, especially with forced tracks like Shikha’s breakup with Kabir.
On the technical side, the cinematography by Anubhav Bansal beautifully captures the urban settings of Delhi and Kolkata. Editing by Amit Kulkarni keeps the series moving, though a few episodes could have been tighter.
The music is one of the highlights of the show. With 12 tracks composed by various artists, songs like Udd Jaavan, Kol Kol, Hum Dum, and Jee Le Zindagi are catchy and uplifting. The background score also adds energy, especially during dramatic entries or tense moments.

Do You Wanna Partner is a comedy-drama that combines friendship, entrepreneurship, and social issues. It highlights how women face gender bias in business, while also giving viewers humour, music, and drama. While some characters could have been developed more deeply and a few subplots feel unnecessary, the series still entertains with its engaging performances and fresh theme.
Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty bring charm, while Jaaved Jaaferi steals the show with his versatile acting. The strong soundtrack and well-shot visuals add to the overall appeal. Though not without flaws, the series leaves viewers with hope and teases the possibility of a second season.
Overall, it is a one-time watch series that deserves 2.5 out of 5 stars. If you enjoy lighthearted comedy with social commentary and female-led stories, this might be a good weekend watch.
