An incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district has created shockwaves after the sister of BJP MP from Farrukhabad, Mukesh Rajput, filed a police complaint against her in-laws. She has accused them of harassment, assault, and even attempting to film her while she was bathing. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

Complaint details by the victim

The complainant, Reena Singh, is the sister of BJP MP Mukesh Rajput. According to her written statement to the police, she alleged that her father-in-law, Laxman Singh, and her brothers-in-law, Rajesh and Girish, subjected her to repeated harassment and physical violence.

She stated that on Sunday afternoon, while she was bathing, her father-in-law and brothers-in-law tried to secretly record her video through a bathroom window. Singh said that when she raised her voice in protest, her in-laws became aggressive. She claimed they verbally abused her and then physically attacked her.

In her complaint, Singh further alleged that her father-in-law went a step further by threatening her life. She said he brandished his licensed rifle and warned her that he would shoot her if she resisted. She also mentioned that he struck her with a stick during the confrontation, leaving her terrified for her safety.

Adding to her ordeal, Singh accused her brother-in-law Rajesh of attacking her with a knife. The alleged attack injured her hand. She said her other brother-in-law, Girish, also joined in the assault and struck her with an iron rod. The complaint described how the entire incident left her shaken, injured, and afraid.

Reena Singh claimed that even after this violent incident, the threats did not stop. She alleged that she continues to receive warnings from her in-laws, who have threatened her with further harm if she speaks out.

Police register FIR and begin investigation

After receiving the complaint, officials at the Sahawar Police Station took note of the allegations. Station House Officer (SHO) Chaman Goswami confirmed that an FIR had been registered against the accused — Laxman Singh (father-in-law), Rajesh, and Girish (brothers-in-law).

“The matter is being investigated, and strict action will be taken against the culprits as per the law,” SHO Goswami stated. He added that the police have taken the complaint seriously, especially given the severity of the allegations and the presence of multiple accused.

The FIR mentions several charges including harassment, assault, attempt to outrage modesty, threats of violence, and use of weapons to intimidate. The police said they will question the accused and collect evidence to verify the claims made in the complaint.

The incident has gained attention not only because of the seriousness of the allegations but also due to the complainant’s family ties. As the sister of a sitting BJP MP, Reena Singh’s case has raised concerns about women’s safety within families and the extent of domestic harassment.

Local residents expressed shock at the allegations, stating that such acts, if proven true, highlight how even influential families are not free from serious internal disputes and crimes against women.

The police have assured that the case will be handled with full transparency and fairness. Strict legal action is expected if the investigation supports the complainant’s version of events.

For now, the victim remains under protection, and her medical injuries have been recorded for legal purposes. The case is expected to proceed swiftly given its sensitive nature.
