15k women in red sarees to welcome Modi in Bhopal

15,000 women in sindoor-coloured sarees to welcome Modi in Bhopal on May 31

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on May 31 to join a special event marking the 300th birth anniversary of Lok Mata Ahilya Bai. She was a respected queen who ruled the Malwa kingdom in the 18th century and is remembered for her leadership and service.

For this important occasion, the BJP women’s wing has planned a unique and colorful welcome for the Prime Minister. Around 15,000 women volunteers will wear bright red, vermillion-colored sarees, known as Sindoor sarees, to greet him. This will be a strong symbol of thanks and respect.

These sarees are not just for decoration. They carry deep meaning because the color vermillion (Sindoor) is traditionally linked with married women in India and also symbolizes strength and sacrifice. The BJP says this is a tribute to Prime Minister Modi and the Indian armed forces. They want to honor the brave soldiers who responded strongly to a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, called Operation Sindoor. This military action was India’s direct answer to terrorism.

The women will come from 1,300 local groups called mandals, which are small community organizations. The BJP is giving the sarees to these women volunteers so they can all wear the same color and create a powerful visual impact.

The event will take place at a large women’s conference in Bhopal. This conference is focused on women empowerment, celebrating the strength and achievements of women in India. The Prime Minister’s visit to this event is a way to honor women and highlight their important role in society.

Security and services led by Women

The arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit will be very special. For the first time, the entire security and management at the helipad where Modi will arrive, and at the event venue, will be led by women officers. This is a major step in showing women’s leadership in important roles like security and crowd control.

IPS officer Sonali Mishra will lead the security operations. She will be in charge of the police women who will manage all aspects of safety, including traffic control and managing the crowd. There will be 47 women police officers leading the VIP security team. This marks a new milestone, showing women in powerful positions during high-profile government events.

Besides security, even the food and water services at the event will be managed by women. Over 600 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will take care of providing refreshments to all attendees. These groups of women often work together to improve their economic and social conditions.

The BJP state president VD Sharma said that the entire event — including welcoming the Prime Minister and organizing the program — will be taken care of by "Nari Shakti," which means women’s power. The women’s conference is not just a ceremony but a statement of women’s empowerment in India.

The event promises to make history as it celebrates women’s strength and contribution to society, while also honoring the legacy of Lok Mata Ahilya Bai, who herself was a powerful female leader in history.

Lok Mata Ahilya Bai Holkar was a queen of the Malwa region in central India in the 18th century. She is remembered as a wise and just ruler who cared deeply for her people and worked to build temples, roads, and water systems to improve lives. Her leadership is an example of women’s ability to govern with fairness and strength.

The 300th birth anniversary of Ahilya Bai is being celebrated with many events across Madhya Pradesh. The women’s conference in Bhopal is a key part of these celebrations.

Prime Minister Modi’s presence at this conference shows the government’s respect for Ahilya Bai’s legacy and its focus on promoting women’s rights and empowerment today.

Operation Sindoor: A tribute in red

The 15,000 women wearing Sindoor sarees also symbolize gratitude for “Operation Sindoor,” which was the Indian military’s strong response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. This operation was important because it showed India’s determination to fight terrorism and protect its citizens.

Wearing the vermillion sarees during Modi’s welcome connects this military success with cultural and traditional symbols of strength and sacrifice in India.

This unique welcome is a way to honor both the armed forces and the Prime Minister for their roles in ensuring the country’s safety and security.

This event highlights women’s growing role in public life in India. From leading security teams to organizing major events and serving in Self-Help Groups, women are taking on important responsibilities.

By managing security, traffic, crowd control, and hospitality, women are showing their ability to handle complex and demanding roles.

The BJP and the government aim to encourage more women to step into leadership positions and take part actively in nation-building.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bhopal on May 31 is not just about celebrating the past but also about inspiring the future. The 15,000 women wearing Sindoor sarees will send a strong message of unity, strength, and gratitude.

The women-led security and service arrangements will further showcase the power of women and their growing influence in all areas of life.

Through this event, the legacy of Lok Mata Ahilya Bai will be honored, women’s empowerment will be highlighted, and respect for India’s armed forces will be shown — all in one grand celebration.
