Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed appointment letters to 221 newly selected candidates on Tuesday and said that the state government has provided government jobs to more than 33,000 young people during the last four and a half years. The event was held at Mukhya Sevak Sadan at the Chief Minister’s residence in Dehradun.

The selected candidates were recruited through the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC). They will serve in different departments, including Urban Development, Skill Development and Employment, and Animal Husbandry.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Dhami congratulated all the selected candidates and their families. He said that receiving a government job is an important achievement in a person's life. Many candidates work hard for years, preparing for examinations and interviews to secure a government position. Therefore, the appointment letter is not just a document but the result of dedication, patience and continuous effort.

The Chief Minister said the government is committed to creating employment opportunities for the youth of the state. According to him, young people are the greatest strength of Uttarakhand and their participation is essential for the state's development. He added that the government is making efforts to provide both employment and self-employment opportunities so that young people can build successful careers.

Focus on jobs and opportunities

During his address, Dhami said that employment generation has remained one of the top priorities of his government. He highlighted several schemes and initiatives launched to support young people.

The Chief Minister said the state government has introduced policies that encourage entrepreneurship and innovation among youth. He mentioned that the Startup Policy has helped many young people turn their business ideas into reality. Through government support, financial assistance and training programmes, aspiring entrepreneurs are getting opportunities to start their own ventures.

He also spoke about the Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana, which encourages self-employment. Under this scheme, young people receive support to establish small businesses and create livelihoods for themselves and others. According to Dhami, such initiatives are helping youth become financially independent and confident about their future.

The Chief Minister stated that employment is not limited to government jobs. The government is also creating opportunities in the private sector and supporting entrepreneurship. Skill development programmes are being expanded so that young people can gain practical knowledge and meet the demands of modern industries.

Dhami said that these efforts have increased confidence among the youth of Uttarakhand. Many young people now believe they can build successful careers within the state rather than moving elsewhere in search of opportunities.

The Chief Minister further noted that the enthusiasm and happiness seen among the selected candidates reflected the positive impact of these employment-focused initiatives.

Transparent recruitment process

Chief Minister Dhami also discussed reforms made in the recruitment process. He said there was a time when job seekers faced uncertainty because recruitment procedures were often delayed. Allegations of irregularities and examination-related issues also created frustration among candidates.

To address these concerns, the government has taken several steps to ensure transparency and fairness in recruitment. Dhami said recruitment processes are now being completed in a time-bound manner so that candidates do not have to wait for years after appearing in examinations.

He also referred to strict action taken against examination malpractice and cheating networks. According to the Chief Minister, the state has implemented one of the country's toughest anti-copying laws to protect honest candidates and maintain the credibility of recruitment examinations.

Dhami said the government remains determined to ensure that deserving candidates get opportunities based on merit. He added that transparent recruitment helps strengthen public trust and encourages young people to prepare confidently for competitive examinations.

The Chief Minister further informed that government departments have been instructed to fill vacant positions without unnecessary delay. This step is expected to improve administrative efficiency while also creating more employment opportunities.

At the event, Dhami urged the newly appointed candidates to perform their duties with honesty, dedication and commitment. He encouraged them to focus on public service and contribute positively to society. He said government employees should work with the principles of simplification, resolution, disposal and citizen satisfaction.

According to him, public servants play an important role in improving people's lives. He advised the new employees to pay special attention to the needs of poor and vulnerable sections of society and ensure that government services reach them effectively.

The appointment letters distributed during the event covered several posts. These included 173 instructors under the Skill Development and Employment Department’s training wing, four personal assistants under the same department, nine personal assistants in the Animal Husbandry Department and 35 assistant accountants in the Urban Development Department.

Several ministers also attended the programme and praised the government's recruitment efforts. Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bahuguna said merit-based recruitment has increased confidence among job seekers. He noted that talented candidates are now securing government jobs through fair competition.

Cabinet Minister Ram Singh Kaida said appointments are being made transparently and without recommendations. He highlighted that the Urban Development Department has distributed more than 200 appointment letters during the past two years.

Other ministers, legislators and senior officials were also present during the event.

Concluding his address, Chief Minister Dhami linked the recruitment drive to the larger goal of building a developed India by 2047. He said young government employees will play an important role in achieving this vision through their dedication and public service.

The appointment ceremony not only marked the beginning of new careers for 221 candidates but also reflected the Uttarakhand government's continued focus on employment generation, transparent recruitment and youth empowerment. With over 33,000 young people already inducted into government service during the past four and a half years, the government says it will continue creating opportunities and supporting the aspirations of the state's youth.
