A heartbreaking case from China has shocked animal lovers around the world after a popular pet dog was allegedly stolen, sold to a restaurant and killed, despite the owner offering a large reward for his safe return.
The dog, named Chutou, was an 8-year-old Border Collie who had become a social media star. He appeared regularly in videos made by his owner, a well-known Chinese travel and food influencer named Guo. Over the years, Chutou gained a huge fan following and had more than 1.5 million followers across different social media platforms.
According to reports, the incident took place near Liuhe town in Ningling County, China. At the time of the theft, Guo was travelling alone in the country of Georgia for work. Chutou had been left in the care of Guo’s parents while his owner was away.
Everything appeared normal until May 11, when Guo’s father realised that the dog was missing. The family immediately began searching for Chutou, hoping that he had simply wandered away from home.
However, after checking security camera footage, they discovered something disturbing. The CCTV recordings reportedly showed two strangers arriving on a scooter and taking the dog away.
The family quickly realised that Chutou had not disappeared on his own but had been taken by unknown people.
When Guo learned about the incident, he immediately returned to China to search for his beloved pet.
As news of the disappearance spread online, thousands of Chutou’s followers joined the search effort. Many people shared information on social media, hoping to help locate the famous dog.
Guo was determined to bring his pet back safely and began tracking down the people believed to be involved in the theft.

During his investigation, Guo reportedly located a man who was suspected of taking the dog. Desperate to save Chutou, the influencer offered the man a reward of 1,500 US dollars, which is approximately ₹1.4 lakh, if the dog was returned alive.
Sadly, the offer came too late.
According to reports, the suspect told Guo that Chutou had already been sold to a restaurant for only 26 US dollars, around ₹2,400.
The most devastating part of the story was that the dog had allegedly already been slaughtered and eaten before Guo was able to find him.
The revelation left Guo and his family completely heartbroken.
Reports say the suspect showed little sympathy for the family’s loss. He allegedly told them that the dog was already dead and that they should stop making an issue out of it. The man reportedly claimed that he had not broken any law and refused to apologise.
Even after learning the tragic truth, Guo wanted some way to say goodbye to his pet.
He contacted a worker at the restaurant and requested any remaining fur from Chutou so that he could give the dog a proper farewell.
However, according to reports, the worker informed him that the fur had already been thrown away.
This news made the situation even more painful for the family, as they were left without any physical reminder of their beloved companion.
The story quickly spread across social media platforms and triggered an emotional response from people around the world.
Thousands of users expressed sadness, anger and disbelief after learning what had happened.
Many people said the case highlighted the need for stronger animal protection laws.
Several users described the incident as cruel and heartbreaking. Others said they could not understand how someone could treat an animal in such a manner.

A lawyer from Sichuan Weixu Law Firm reportedly explained that if the value of the stolen property exceeds that amount, authorities can pursue criminal charges against those responsible.
The investigation is continuing, and many people are closely following developments in the case.
For Guo, however, no legal action can bring back his longtime companion.
Chutou was not only a famous internet personality but also a loyal family pet who had spent eight years with the people who loved him.
The tragic case has touched millions of people because it highlights the strong emotional bond between humans and their pets. For many followers, Chutou was a familiar face who brought joy through videos and online posts.
