Chandigarh, 1 June 2026: The Health Department, UT Chandigarh, has announced a three-month (90 days) extension of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign as per the directions of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, to ensure maximum coverage of eligible adolescent girls against cervical cancer.
Under the extended campaign, HPV vaccination will be provided free of cost to all eligible girls who are 14 years of age and have not yet attained the age of 15 years. The extension aims to cover beneficiaries who may have missed vaccination during the initial phase of the campaign.
The HPV Vaccine (Gardasil-4) is available at all Government Health Facilities across UT Chandigarh on all six working days of the week. The vaccine is a safe and effective preventive measure against cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. Health experts emphasize that vaccination at the recommended age offers maximum protection before exposure to the virus.
The Health Department has appealed to parents, guardians, educational institutions, community leaders, and the general public to actively support the campaign and ensure vaccination of all eligible girls.
The Department reiterated its commitment towards safeguarding adolescent health and promoting a cervical cancer-free future for young girls in Chandigarh.
