GFZ reported the depth at around 10 kilometres, while the USGS estimated it to be deeper, at around 73 kilometres. The epicentre of the quake was located close to the coastal town of San Julian in Eastern Samar province.

Local authorities and residents described the shaking as sudden and intense. A police officer from the region said that the tremors were strong enough to cause minor structural damage in some places. He mentioned that a beam connected to the roof of the police station broke during the quake, and furniture inside the building was seen moving due to the shaking.

Despite the intensity of the earthquake, officials confirmed that there were no immediate reports of injuries or deaths. Emergency teams were put on alert, and authorities began checking buildings and public infrastructure to ensure safety.
