
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major recruitment drive in the police department, offering over 81,000 job opportunities. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made this announcement during a late-night review meeting held in Lucknow.
This decision is expected to bring relief and hope to thousands of young people preparing for government jobs. The Chief Minister said that the year 2026–27 will be very important for youth who want to join the police force.
According to officials, the recruitment process will be carried out within a year. The government aims to complete it in a transparent, fair, and timely manner. The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening law and order across the state.
The recruitment drive will cover a wide range of positions in the police department. These include Sub-Inspectors, constables, radio assistant operators, computer operator Grade-A, and confidential Sub-Inspectors. Some recruitment processes have already started, while others will begin soon.
The Chief Minister directed the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board to ensure that the entire process is conducted properly. He emphasised that all recruitments should follow reservation rules and be completed within a fixed timeline.
He also highlighted the use of technology to make the recruitment process faster and more efficient. By doing this, the government aims to build trust among job seekers and reduce delays or irregularities.
Apart from recruitment, the Chief Minister ordered a reshuffle of police personnel who have been posted at the same place for a long time. He said that officers stationed at key locations such as Raj Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence, and police headquarters in Lucknow should be transferred.
This step is intended to improve accountability and ensure that officers remain active and responsible in their duties. The Chief Minister asked officials to adopt a result-oriented approach and focus on delivering better performance.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed the functioning of emergency and law enforcement services. He paid special attention to the PRV-112 service, which provides quick police response in emergencies.
Officials informed him that the current average response time is around six minutes. The Chief Minister directed them to reduce this time further. He suggested better placement and continuous movement of police vehicles to improve efficiency.
He also asked for data-based patrolling, where police movements are planned based on crime patterns and sensitive areas. In addition, he recommended increasing the number of vehicles, including both four-wheelers and two-wheelers, wherever needed.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to review patrolling routes regularly, especially in high-risk areas. This will help in preventing crimes and ensuring faster response to incidents.
The meeting also included a review of fire and emergency services. Officials reported that in 2025–26, around 42,000 fire incidents were handled, and action was taken in over 10,000 emergency cases. Property worth nearly ₹800 crore was saved during this period.
To improve fire safety, the Chief Minister directed that every district should have hydraulic fire tenders. He also stressed the goal of “one tehsil, one fire tender” to ensure quick response in emergencies.
Cybercrime was another major topic of discussion. Officials informed that technical efforts helped prevent cyber fraud worth ₹425.7 crore in the last year. A total of 3.91 lakh complaints were received, and action was taken in more than 3.14 lakh cases.
The police also blocked over 1.14 lakh IMEI numbers and took action on nearly 2 lakh devices involved in cybercrime. Legal action was taken in over 7,000 cases.
The Chief Minister asked officials to strengthen efforts against cybercrime by using advanced technology and increasing public awareness. He also highlighted the importance of the cyber helpline 1930, which has improved its daily call-handling capacity significantly.
In addition, the government is focusing on a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. Officials reported that 414 vigilance cases are currently pending, and a target has been set to resolve most of them soon.

The Chief Minister directed authorities to increase trap operations and ensure strict action against corrupt practices.
Other departments such as prison administration, CID, and police housing were also reviewed. Steps are being taken to improve digital systems, training programs, and infrastructure development.
