Farmers in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh have found a unique way to protect their crops. They are wearing bear costumes and walking in their fields to scare away monkeys.
This unusual method is being used in Firozpur village, where monkeys have become a serious problem for farmers. These animals regularly enter farms and damage crops, causing heavy losses.

Recently, some farmers started dressing like bears. They move around the fields wearing these costumes. When monkeys see them, they get scared and run away.
One of the farmers, Dharambir, explained the problem. He said that monkeys come in large numbers every day and eat crops like potatoes and strawberries.
According to him, there are more than 100 monkeys in the area. These monkeys regularly enter farms and damage the produce.
He said that a few farmers have started using this method. When they wear bear costumes and walk in the fields, the monkeys quickly run away.
This method is helping farmers for now. It is simple and does not require expensive tools or machines. Farmers only need costumes and time to patrol their land.
However, it is also a tiring task. Farmers have to keep walking in their fields for long hours. They also need to stay alert because monkeys can return at any time.
Despite these challenges, farmers feel that this is better than doing nothing. It is helping them save at least some part of their crops.
At the same time, farmers are asking for a permanent solution. They believe that the government should take steps to control the monkey problem.
Local officials have also noticed this situation. Manoj Kumar, who is a forest ranger, said that this method is not a permanent solution.
He explained that monkeys may run away from one place, but they usually go to another nearby area. This means the problem is only shifted, not solved.
The Forest Department is now thinking of better solutions. Officials are planning to catch the monkeys and release them in forest areas where they can live safely.
This process will take time and proper planning. It also requires trained teams to handle the animals carefully.
