Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday accused opposition parties of misleading the public about the availability of cooking gas and fuel in the country. Khattar said that the issue of LPG and oil supply is connected to international developments, but the government has taken steps to ensure that people do not face shortages.
Khattar, who currently serves as Union minister for power, housing and urban affairs in the India, made the remarks while visiting Karnal in Haryana. During his visit, he attended several political meetings and social events and also spoke to reporters about fuel supply and political developments.
According to Khattar, opposition leaders are trying to create unnecessary concern among the public about cooking gas availability. He said the central government is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that LPG and oil are available in sufficient quantities.
Khattar explained that oil and gas markets depend heavily on international conditions, including global supply chains and geopolitical developments. However, he said the government has managed the situation carefully so that citizens do not experience major disruptions.
The Union minister said that gas agencies across the country have enough LPG stock to meet consumer demand. He also stated that oil and LPG shipments continue to arrive from abroad without major issues.
Khattar added that in such a situation, political parties should act responsibly and avoid spreading confusion among people.
Khattar emphasised that the central government has taken several steps to maintain stable supplies of LPG and fuel in the country. According to him, authorities are continuously monitoring imports and stock levels to prevent shortages.
He said that even though oil prices and supply conditions may change at the international level, the government’s priority is to protect consumers from difficulties. He added that the administration is working to ensure that households receive cooking gas without interruption.
LPG cylinders are widely used in India for cooking, especially under government schemes that aim to provide clean fuel to households. Because of this, any concern about LPG supply can quickly become a sensitive issue for the public.
Khattar said that despite the international challenges, gas agencies in both the country and the state have enough stock available. This means consumers should not worry about shortages or delays in supply.
He also urged opposition parties to avoid making fuel supply a political issue. According to him, spreading incorrect information could create unnecessary panic among citizens.
Khattar said the government is committed to maintaining a stable supply of essential commodities such as cooking gas. He added that authorities will continue to monitor the situation and take action if required.

Apart from speaking about fuel supply, Khattar also commented on the upcoming Rajya Sabha election in the state. He expressed confidence that the candidate supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would win the contest.
The BJP has nominated Sanjay Bhatia as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat from Haryana. Khattar said he believes Bhatia will emerge victorious when the voting takes place.
He said that members of the state legislative assembly will cast their votes based on their conscience and judgment. According to him, he cannot predict the exact outcome, but he is confident that the BJP candidate will succeed.
Khattar also spoke about the broader political situation in the country. He claimed that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP, is likely to perform strongly in upcoming elections across several states.
According to him, the alliance is expected to win comfortably in five states where elections are scheduled. He said the alliance remains confident because of the development work carried out by the government.
During his visit, Khattar also met Nayab Saini, the Chief Minister of Haryana. The meeting took place late Saturday evening and was described as a discussion on routine administrative matters.
Khattar said the meeting was part of regular coordination between leaders and was not connected to any specific political issue.
The Union minister’s visit to Karnal included participation in several political and social programmes. He interacted with local leaders and supporters and discussed various issues related to development and governance.
Khattar served as the Chief Minister of Haryana before joining the Union Cabinet. Because of his long association with the state, he continues to remain actively involved in political discussions and party activities there.
His remarks on fuel supply come at a time when global oil markets are facing uncertainty due to international tensions and supply concerns. Such developments often affect fuel prices and availability in many countries.
However, Khattar insisted that the government has taken adequate measures to maintain supply stability in India. He said citizens should trust the government’s efforts and not be influenced by what he described as misleading claims by opposition leaders.
As political activity increases ahead of upcoming elections and parliamentary contests, statements from leaders on issues such as fuel supply and economic conditions are likely to remain an important part of public debate.
