Mumbai Police have registered a case after serious threats were made against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh. The FIR has been filed against a man identified as Harry Boxer, who allegedly demanded ransom money and sent a threatening voice note. The matter is now under active investigation by the cyber and crime units.

According to police officials, the complaint was submitted by the actor’s manager after receiving alarming calls and messages. Authorities say the case is being treated with high priority due to the nature of the threats and the possible links to organised criminal networks.

Threat calls and voice note

Police sources said the manager of Ranveer Singh received calls from an international number beginning with +340, which is associated with the Virgin Islands. The caller reportedly identified himself as Harry Boxer and demanded a ransom of ₹20 crore.

Officials said the accused also sent a long voice note containing serious warnings. In the message, the caller allegedly threatened that if the demand was not met, the consequences would be remembered for generations. The tone of the message raised immediate concern among the actor’s team.

The threatening voice note was first examined by Mumbai Police and then sent to the Punjab and Haryana Police for technical verification. After analysis, authorities confirmed that the voice matched that of the accused, Harry Boxer.

Based on this confirmation, the Mumbai Cyber Police formally registered an FIR. The investigation is now being jointly handled by the Crime Branch and the Anti-Extortion Cell. Officers are trying to trace the origin of the calls and identify any accomplices who may be involved.

Police officials said the voice note did not only target Ranveer Singh. It also contained warnings directed at filmmaker Rohit Shetty and made threatening remarks about the wider Bollywood industry.

The accused reportedly claimed involvement in previous violent incidents abroad, including shootings in Portugal. Investigators are currently verifying these claims.

Security tightened and wider probe

Following the threats, security around Ranveer Singh’s residence has been increased. Police have advised the actor to remain cautious, especially while travelling for film shoots and public appearances.

Officials said they are examining the case from multiple angles, including possible links to known criminal groups. The FIR is considered significant because it comes amid heightened concern over threats to film personalities.

This is also the second FIR connected to alleged activities of the Bishnoi gang in recent weeks. Earlier, on February 1, a firing incident took place outside Rohit Shetty’s house in Mumbai’s Juhu area.

In that case, investigators arrested 12 suspects, including the alleged shooter Deepak Sharma. Police said Sharma is believed to have carried out the firing on instructions from the Shubham Lonkar group. Authorities are now checking whether the latest threat case has any connection to the earlier incident.

Investigation continues

Mumbai Police say efforts are underway to track the accused and verify the international phone number used in the threat calls. Cyber experts are analysing call records, digital footprints, and the voice message to build a stronger case.

Officials have not ruled out the possibility that the accused may be operating from outside India. If confirmed, the investigation could involve coordination with international agencies.

Police have urged the public not to speculate and said further details will be shared as the probe progresses. For now, the focus remains on ensuring the safety of the actor and identifying everyone involved in the threat.

The case highlights growing security concerns around high-profile celebrities in the film industry. Authorities say they are committed to taking strict legal action and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.

Further updates are expected once the investigation moves forward and police gather more evidence.
