Jammu, 17 February 2026: To provide a better travel experience and convenience to tourists and locals in the Jammu Division, special train number 04688/04687 (Budgam - Banihal) was extended from Banihal to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra from February 11. This special train is becoming a favorite among people traveling to and from Kashmir to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, further improving connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir. From February 11th to February 17th, over 4,000 passengers have travelled in the special train from Budgam to Katra and Katra to Budgam in the general class. Furthermore, over 400 passengers have travelled in the Vistadome coach fitted in this train.
This special train is becoming a beneficial option for locals at Khari, Subar, Sangaldan, Sawalkot, Duga, Bakkal, and Reasi stations along the route. Over 2,000 passengers have travelled from these stations, reflecting the positive initiatives taken by the Railways in the interest of passengers.
Commenting on this successful operation, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Mr. Uchit Singhal said, "The special train service was extended from Banihal to Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Katra. This has facilitated local travel and is proving to be a reliable option for both locals and tourists."
