Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the full 82-kilometre Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor on February 22. With this launch, people will be able to travel between Delhi and Meerut in just about one hour. On the same day, the Prime Minister will also flag off the Meerut Metro, marking a major step in improving transport in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The Namo Bharat Corridor is considered the backbone of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation’s Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The high-speed corridor connects important residential, commercial, and industrial areas across Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.
The remaining stretches of the project are now complete. This includes the 5-km section between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, and the 21-km stretch from Meerut South to Modipuram. These sections will officially open to the public after the inauguration ceremony.
At present, 55 kilometres of the corridor are already operational, with services running across 11 stations. Once the full 82-km route becomes operational, it will provide smooth and fast connectivity across the region.
The Namo Bharat Corridor includes several important stations such as Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, and Meerut South. These stations connect key population centres and business hubs.
The new corridor is expected to benefit millions of commuters. Not only residents of Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut will gain from this service, but people from nearby cities like Faridabad, Gurugram, and Noida are also expected to find travel easier.
The corridor has been designed to reduce travel time and make commuting more comfortable. The trains are modern, air-conditioned, and equipped with advanced safety features. With high speeds and fewer stops compared to regular metro services, the Namo Bharat trains will offer a faster alternative for daily travellers.
On the same day, PM Modi will also flag off the 23-km-long Meerut Metro. The first phase of the Meerut Metro will have 13 stations. This metro line will improve local transport within Meerut city and connect smoothly with the Namo Bharat Corridor.

Officials believe that the combined launch of the rapid rail corridor and the metro will transform regional mobility. The project is part of a larger vision to improve infrastructure and reduce road congestion in the NCR. By offering a reliable and quick public transport option, the government hopes to reduce traffic jams and pollution.
The launch of the Namo Bharat Corridor has already started affecting the real estate market along the route. According to the NCRTC, land prices near the stations have increased sharply over the past two years.
In areas such as Meerut, Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar, property demand has risen significantly. Land prices within a two-kilometre radius of the stations have increased by 30 to 67 per cent. In Meerut, land rates have gone up from around Rs 8,000–12,000 per square yard to Rs 12,000–20,000 per square yard.
Builders and developers are responding to this growing demand. Many new housing and commercial projects have been announced ahead of the corridor’s full launch. Improved connectivity makes these areas more attractive for homebuyers and businesses.
Better transport links often lead to economic growth. With faster travel between Delhi and Meerut, more people may choose to live in Meerut and work in Delhi or Ghaziabad. This can reduce pressure on Delhi’s housing market while promoting development in nearby cities.
Industrial and commercial hubs along the corridor are also expected to benefit. Businesses can move goods and employees more efficiently. This improved connectivity may attract new investments and create more job opportunities in the region.
The full commissioning of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor is seen as a major milestone under the RRTS framework. It shows how modern infrastructure projects can improve daily life and support economic growth.
With the inauguration on February 22, the dream of travelling from Delhi to Meerut in just one hour will become a reality. The launch is expected to mark a new chapter in regional transport, making commuting faster, safer, and more comfortable for millions of people across the NCR.
