Rahul Gandhi recently claimed that there was vote manipulation in the Haryana assembly elections 2024. He suggested that some voters’ identities were misused and bogus voters had been added in certain villages. He showed images of voter identity cards during a press conference called “H-Files” and said some cards had the wrong photos, even showing a Brazilian model’s picture in place of a real voter.

However, residents of Machhroli village in Sonepat district, which was mentioned in Rahul Gandhi’s claims, have denied these allegations. They said the claims were incorrect and created unnecessary confusion. The villagers stated that no votes were stolen or misused in the area.

A woman named Pinki Joginder Kaushik, who was mentioned in the discussion, explained her situation. She applied for a voter identity card in 2019. When she received it, the photograph printed on the card was not hers. The photo belonged to another Indian woman wearing a salwar suit, not a foreign model as Rahul Gandhi suggested. Pinki said she returned the card to the officials for correction but has not received a new card yet. Despite this, she continued to vote in all elections using her voter slip and Aadhaar card. She confirmed that she personally cast her vote in the Haryana assembly elections 2024, and no one else voted in her name.

Pinki clarified that the photograph shown by Rahul Gandhi was not of a foreign model. She expressed concern that this issue was misinterpreted and spread widely on social media, causing unnecessary panic.

Villagers demand proper verification

Another voter named Poonam, whose voter card was also highlighted by Rahul Gandhi, has been defended by her family and other villagers. Her husband, Sonu, and several residents of Machhroli village confirmed that her voter card photograph is genuine and has always been correct. They said Rahul Gandhi was shown edited or incorrect material, which led to the false claim that a foreign model’s photo was used. According to them, Poonam’s original voter card and Aadhaar card clearly display her real photograph.

The villagers pointed out that circulating such unverified information publicly can create confusion and harm the reputation of ordinary citizens. They stressed that anyone responsible for spreading false or edited images should be held accountable.

Poonam is currently staying at her parental home in Panipat and has not made any public statement regarding the issue.

The situation has caused political and social tension in the area. Residents of Machhroli village emphasized that this matter should not be used for political point scoring. They said it is a case of misinformation, not voter fraud. Local administrative officials have not yet released any formal statement.

In cases like this, the correction of voter identity cards is done through the electoral registration office. Until the correction is completed, residents can continue to vote using supporting documents such as voter slips and Aadhaar cards. Pinki, for example, has been able to exercise her right to vote without any problem, despite the photo error on her card.

Villagers stressed that proper verification and responsible communication are necessary to prevent further misunderstandings. They warned that spreading incorrect claims without checking facts can damage trust and cause unnecessary tension in communities. They also urged politicians and media to ensure that any information shared about voters is accurate and verified.

This incident highlights the importance of carefully checking claims related to elections and voters. While errors like incorrect photographs on voter cards can happen, it does not mean votes are stolen or misused. Using voter slips and Aadhaar cards helps people continue to vote even if their voter ID has mistakes.

Residents of Machhroli want the focus to be on correcting errors and maintaining transparency, rather than creating political controversy. They said everyone should work together to make the voter system accurate and reliable. Proper verification and clear communication are key to preventing confusion and protecting citizens’ rights.

In conclusion, the claims made by Rahul Gandhi regarding voter manipulation in Haryana have been denied by the villagers affected. Pinki Joginder Kaushik and other residents confirmed that votes were not stolen and the photographs in question were either genuine or sent for correction. They urged that such matters should not be politicized and that responsible communication is important to maintain trust in the electoral process. Residents of Machhroli village hope that future discussions on voter issues will focus on facts, proper verification, and transparency, rather than spreading misinformation that can harm ordinary citizens.
