Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has begun a three-day visit to Japan aimed at deepening economic ties, promoting Haryana as a preferred destination for investment, and inviting Japanese companies to participate in the upcoming ‘Happening Haryana 2026’ summit. The event, scheduled for April next year, is expected to bring together global investors, industrial leaders, and policymakers to explore business opportunities in Haryana.

Saini’s visit highlights Haryana’s strong industrial base and its ambition to strengthen partnerships with Japan in key sectors like manufacturing, green energy, mobility, and technology. The Chief Minister was accompanied by state industries and commerce minister Rao Narbir Singh and senior officials from the Haryana government.

Strengthening economic and cultural ties

During his first day in Tokyo, Chief Minister Saini met Takuma Miyaji, Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, to discuss the scope of collaboration between the two regions. The meeting focused on enhancing investment opportunities, boosting people-to-people connections, and exploring district-to-prefecture partnerships between Haryana and Japan.

According to an official statement from the Indian Embassy in Japan, the discussion centred around how Haryana could serve as a bridge for Japanese industries looking to expand their operations in India. Saini invited Japan to become a key partner in the Happening Haryana 2026 summit, assuring full support and ease of doing business for Japanese investors.

Later in the day, Saini met Yuichiro Koga, Japan’s State Minister for Economy, Trade, and Industry, to discuss long-term industrial collaboration. The talks focused on investment opportunities in next-generation mobility, renewable and green energy, advanced electronics, and precision manufacturing—sectors in which Japanese firms have deep expertise.

Saini said that Haryana offers world-class infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and a business-friendly environment that makes it ideal for global investors. He emphasised that the state already hosts many Japanese manufacturing units, particularly in the automobile and electronics sectors, and is ready to expand these partnerships further.

He noted that Japanese investments in Haryana have played an important role in shaping the state’s economic growth over the past two decades, and now, with the government’s new industrial policies, there is a strong push to welcome more partnerships.

“The relationship between Haryana and Japan is not just about business—it is about friendship and trust,” Saini said during his meeting. “We invite Japanese companies to come, invest, and grow with us.”

Promoting Haryana’s global image

The Chief Minister’s visit to Japan is part of a larger plan to position Haryana as a global investment hub. Through meetings with government officials and business leaders, the state aims to attract new industries in technology-driven sectors, improve its export potential, and create jobs for its youth.

Saini’s schedule also included participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, where a cultural troupe from Haryana performed at the India Pavilion. The troupe showcased traditional Haryanvi folk dances and music, highlighting the state’s vibrant heritage and India’s cultural diversity. The performance drew appreciation from international visitors and was seen as a symbol of Haryana’s openness to global partnerships.

On his arrival in Tokyo, Saini was received by India’s Charge d’Affaires, Madhu Sudan, marking the formal start of his official visit. This diplomatic gesture also reflected the Union government’s support for state-led international outreach aimed at promoting economic diplomacy.

Officials said that meetings with top Japanese industrial associations, business councils, and company representatives are planned for the next two days. These discussions are expected to help identify specific areas for collaboration and prepare the groundwork for major agreements that could be announced during the Happening Haryana 2026 summit.

The Haryana government is also showcasing its flagship industrial zones, including IMT Manesar, Kundli, and Faridabad, along with upcoming projects in Panipat and Sonipat. These areas are being promoted as high-potential investment destinations equipped with modern infrastructure, logistics facilities, and green energy solutions.

Saini underlined that Haryana’s location — near India’s national capital region (NCR) — makes it strategically valuable for foreign investors. With robust connectivity through expressways, airports, and rail networks, the state offers a gateway to northern and western India.

The Chief Minister’s visit is being viewed as a continuation of Haryana’s earlier successes in attracting international partnerships through the Happening Haryana summits, which previously brought global investors from countries like Japan, South Korea, Germany, and the United States.

Officials accompanying Saini said that the 2026 edition of the summit aims to generate significant investment commitments, particularly in emerging sectors like electric vehicles, renewable energy, biotechnology, and smart manufacturing.

Through his meetings, Saini is not only seeking business collaborations but also educational and cultural partnerships. The government plans to introduce exchange programs between Haryana’s universities and Japanese institutions to promote skill development and research collaboration in high-tech fields.

The Chief Minister’s office stated that this outreach will help Haryana achieve its vision of sustainable industrial growth while strengthening its global presence.
