Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has called for Aadhaar cards to be integrated with chips to prevent fraudulent voting in elections. According to Yadav, the move will stop people from creating fake Aadhaar IDs to cast votes illegally and ensure free and fair elections across India.
Yadav shared his views during a meeting with prominent party leaders from Auraiya district on Saturday. The SP chief said that using Aadhaar cards with embedded chips would make it much harder for anyone to manipulate the voting process. He stressed that technology can strengthen democracy and protect the rights of genuine voters.
During the interaction, Yadav also discussed the importance of a caste census in implementing reservations effectively. He said that if a caste-based census is conducted, reservations for backward classes, Dalits, and minorities can be better executed.
Yadav referred to the PDA community, which stands for Pichde (backward classes), Dalits, and Alpasankhyak (minorities). He said the hard work of PDA members helped the Samajwadi Party win more seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the party finished third overall. Yadav emphasized that the unity of these communities is key to solving people's problems and strengthening the party's influence in Uttar Pradesh.
The SP chief urged his party workers to focus on organising at the booth level, ensuring that supporters are included in voter lists, and exposing false claims by opponents. He warned that the current government, led by the BJP, has been undermining equality, freedom, and brotherhood by spreading hatred in society.
Yadav said that conspiracies are being hatched to weaken constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission, and stressed that SP workers have a responsibility to protect democracy through active participation and logical reasoning.
Akhilesh Yadav instructed his party members to monitor voter lists closely and ensure that the votes of supporters are properly recorded. He highlighted the importance of booth-level organisation and claimed that the Samajwadi Party will return to power in Uttar Pradesh in 2027, predicting that the BJP’s days are numbered.
He also emphasised that the SP will work on strengthening the party structure, maintaining discipline, and improving coordination among members to face future elections. According to Yadav, this effort is essential to counter attempts to mislead the public and maintain transparency in governance.
Yadav warned that the Election Commission has faced increased scrutiny and stressed the need for vigilance among party workers. He said that workers must not only defend their communities but also actively participate in ensuring fair elections by preventing manipulation or fraud.
The SP chief added that integrating Aadhaar cards with chips will reduce the possibility of fake entries in electoral rolls and make the election process more secure. He argued that technology could play a major role in protecting voter rights and maintaining the credibility of Indian democracy.
Yadav’s statements came amid rising political tensions and debates about the effectiveness and impartiality of the current government. He accused the BJP of creating social divisions and criticised their attempts to influence public perception through misinformation. He urged SP workers to use logic, facts, and ground-level action to counter these efforts.
In addition to election reforms, Yadav emphasised the need for social equality and the empowerment of backward classes, minorities, and Dalits. He said that the party will continue to fight for policies that benefit these communities, ensure proper implementation of reservations, and strengthen their voice in politics.
