Noida commuters are getting a big boost with a new air-conditioned skywalk connecting two major metro lines. The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has announced that the long-awaited skywalk linking the Blue Line of Delhi Metro at Sector 52 station with Noida’s Aqua Line at Sector 51 station will open to the public on October 2, 2025.
The new skywalk is 420 meters long and 5 meters wide. It has elevators and moving walkways to make travel easier. This facility will allow passengers to move between the two metro systems without having to leave the stations or buy separate tickets. NMRC officials hope that the skywalk will improve the commuting experience and encourage more people to use the metro.
Mahendra Prasad, Executive Director of NMRC, said, “We are excited to open this facility for the public after a long wait. The work is almost complete, and finishing touches are being applied. We have instructed the staff to ensure that everything is ready by September 30, so we can open on October 2, 2025.”
Before this skywalk, commuters had to leave one metro system and either walk or take an e-rickshaw to reach the other line. They also had to buy a new ticket to enter the next metro system. This process was inconvenient and time-consuming.
The new skywalk will solve this problem. Passengers can now travel directly between Sector 52 of the Blue Line and Sector 51 of the Aqua Line without leaving the metro area. The skywalk is designed for comfort, with air-conditioning and moving walkways, making it easier for students, office workers, and other daily commuters.
Akarsh Singh, a college student from Sector 121, said, “It used to take a lot of time to switch lines at Sector 52 and walk to Sector 51. This skywalk will save time and make commuting easier.” Officials hope the new facility will reduce traffic congestion on Noida’s busy roads and make metro travel safer and more convenient.
The skywalk project started in March 2023 but faced several delays. The original design was a single-pillar structure, but later it was changed to a two-pillar design. This modification extended the construction timeline.
The project cost about Rs 40 crore. It replaces the previous 300-meter walkway, which was only covered with a tin shed. The new skywalk is longer, wider, and fully air-conditioned. It also includes elevators and moving walkways for smooth travel, especially for elderly people, women, and passengers with heavy luggage.
Officials are confident that the new facility will improve metro connectivity and reduce the daily travel hassle for thousands of commuters. They are also planning to monitor the traffic flow and provide staff to assist passengers during peak hours.

Noida’s metro system has been growing rapidly, but the lack of direct connections between lines has been a problem. Many commuters avoided using the metro because switching lines took too much time. The new skywalk is expected to change that.
The skywalk will not only save time but also make commuting more comfortable. Air-conditioning will protect passengers from the summer heat, and moving walkways will help people travel faster without much effort. The elevators will provide easy access for people with disabilities or those carrying heavy bags.
Officials also hope that the convenience of the skywalk will encourage more people to use the metro instead of private vehicles. This can reduce traffic congestion and pollution on Noida’s roads.
The NMRC is putting the final touches on the skywalk and expects it to be fully operational by October 2, 2025. Passengers can look forward to a seamless metro travel experience and safer, more convenient commuting in Noida.
