The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the merit list for NEET PG 2025 under the 50 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats. This list is important for candidates who wish to secure postgraduate seats in MD, MS, Postgraduate Diploma, Post MBBS DNB, DrNB (Direct 6-year) and NBEMS Diploma programmes for the 2025-26 academic session. Candidates can now check their ranks on the official website, natboard.edu.in.
The release of the AIQ merit list marks the beginning of the next stage of postgraduate medical admissions. Students who find their names in this list will be able to download their scorecards from September 5, 2025, and take part in the counselling process organised by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
The NEET PG 2025 AIQ merit list provides complete details that help candidates understand their exact position in the national competition. Each student’s roll number, application ID, category, NEET PG score, overall rank, All India Quota rank, and category-wise quota rank are included. By presenting such transparent details, NBEMS ensures that students are aware of where they stand both at the national level and within their category.
The postgraduate entrance examination for NEET PG 2025 was held on August 3, 2025. The results were declared on August 19, 2025, along with the cut-off marks for each category. Only those candidates who scored equal to or higher than the cut-off marks have been included in the merit list and can now move forward to counselling.
The AIQ counselling process will be handled by MCC, which will allocate seats based on candidates’ ranks, choices, and reservation policies. This counselling is a crucial stage for thousands of students who are aiming to begin their postgraduate journey in medical colleges across the country.
While the AIQ merit list is national, state quota seats will be managed separately. Each state and Union Territory will prepare its own merit list for the 50 per cent state quota seats. These will be created according to the rules of reservation, eligibility conditions, and policies set by each state. This ensures that students from all regions get fair representation in the admission process.
Candidates who qualify through the AIQ merit list will be able to download their official scorecards from September 5, 2025, at natboard.edu.in. NBEMS has clarified that these scorecards will be available online for six months, giving students enough time to access them.
The AIQ scorecards will carry three very important ranks that every candidate should pay attention to:
NEET PG 2025 Rank – This is the overall position of a candidate among all those who took the exam across India. It reflects the candidate’s standing in the entire pool of test-takers.
All India Quota (AIQ) Rank – This is the candidate’s position among only those who are eligible for the 50 per cent All India Quota counselling. It is different from the overall rank, as it focuses only on those who will compete for AIQ seats.
All India Quota Category Rank – This rank shows where a candidate stands within their category (OBC, SC, ST, EWS) among others who are eligible for AIQ counselling. This is important for candidates who are applying under reserved categories.
These three ranks together will guide students during the counselling process, helping them make informed choices about colleges and courses.
The release of the NEET PG 2025 merit list is a significant step for medical graduates aiming to specialise further. For many, this is the result of years of preparation, hard work, and dedication. The merit list not only confirms their eligibility but also sets the path for the next stage of their medical careers.
The MCC-led counselling process will soon begin, and candidates are advised to keep a close watch on official notifications to avoid missing any important deadlines. Since counselling is competitive and time-bound, every candidate must be ready with their documents, scorecards, and preferred course and college choices.
The state quota lists, which will be released separately, will further widen the opportunities for students, especially those who may not secure a seat under AIQ but could find a place in their home state’s quota.
