Congress MP from Punjab, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, has said that his son’s life is in danger. He claimed that a well-known gangster named Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, who is currently in jail, has threatened to kill his son. Randhawa shared this on social media, saying that shortly after the threat, someone fired bullets at his son.

Randhawa posted on X (formerly Twitter), "Jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya has threatened to kill my son. One of my associates met my son and within an hour of leaving, he was fired upon today." He added that he was not afraid. Randhawa, who is in Delhi to attend Parliament, said, “No gangster can shake me.”

MP blames AAP government for weak law and order

Randhawa strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab. He blamed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for the rising gangster activities in the state. He said that Punjab has become a “paradise for gangsters” under their rule and that law and order have collapsed.

He tagged both Mann and Kejriwal in his post and said the situation was out of control. He questioned how a jailed gangster could still plan and give death threats, and even arrange a shooting, while sitting in jail.

Who is Jaggu Bhagwanpuria?

Jaggu Bhagwanpuria is known as one of Punjab’s most dangerous gangsters. His gang is involved in many serious crimes like extortion, kidnapping, and robbery. He is also suspected of being involved in the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala.

In March this year, Bhagwanpuria was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) while he was in Bathinda Central Jail. Later, he was transferred to Silchar Central Jail in Assam. He is facing over 128 criminal cases.

His gang has over 50 active members. The police say he also has strong links with another dangerous gang, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Together, they are responsible for many violent crimes in the state.

Just last month, Bhagwanpuria’s mother, Harjeet Kaur, was killed in a gang war in Batala. Two men on a motorcycle shot at her and her bodyguard while they were in a car. Both were killed on the spot. This incident shocked many and showed how active and deadly these gangs still are.

Call for urgent action

Randhawa has now demanded strict action from the Punjab government. He asked how such incidents could still happen when the gangster is behind bars. Many are now questioning the safety of public figures and common people in Punjab.

The Congress MP’s statement has brought attention to the growing threat of gang violence in the state. Opposition leaders and citizens are also demanding answers and action from the state government.

This case has once again raised serious concerns about the law-and-order situation in Punjab. People are asking if anyone is safe when gangsters can operate even from inside jail.
