A new Vande Bharat Express train is soon expected to start running between Hazrat Nizamuddin (Delhi) and Indore in Madhya Pradesh. The train will go via Agra, and reports say its trial run is likely to happen this month. Once operational, this will be the fifth Vande Bharat train on the Agra route.
According to a Jagran report, the trial run will take place between New Delhi and Mathura. The train is expected to stop at Agra Cantt station for 5 to 7 minutes during its regular operations.
The proposal for this train has already been sent to the Railway Board. A railway official said that a train rack is already ready, and preparations are moving quickly.
The demand for a Vande Bharat train from Delhi to Indore has been around for the past six months. The railway authorities are now finally moving forward with this long-awaited request.
Once launched, this train will make it easier and faster for passengers to travel between two important cities—Delhi and Indore—and will also benefit people in cities like Agra and Mathura on the way.
At present, there are four Vande Bharat Express trains that pass through the Agra route. These include:
Bhopal Vande Bharat Express
Udaipur Vande Bharat Express
Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express
Varanasi Vande Bharat Express
All of these trains have good passenger occupancy. According to officials, around 70 to 80 per cent of seats are filled on most days, showing the strong popularity and demand for Vande Bharat services.
Apart from the new Vande Bharat train, the Indian Railways has announced temporary stoppages for several other trains in Mathura and Agra due to religious festivals.
Events like the Govardhan Parikrama and Guru Purnima Mela attract many devotees to Mathura. To make their travel easier, four pairs of trains will temporarily stop at Agra Cantt and Mathura stations. These include:
Nizamuddin–Madurai Express (Stops on July 8 and 10 at Mathura)
Madurai–Nizamuddin Express (Stops on July 8 and 10 at Mathura)
Nizamuddin–Tirupati Express (Stops on July 9 and 11 at Agra Cantt and Mathura)
Nizamuddin–Kanyakumari Express (Stops on July 12 at Mathura)
Nizamuddin–Yeshwantpur Express (Stops on July 8, 10, and 12 at Mathura and Agra Cantt)
These stoppages will last for 2 minutes each and are meant to support the increased number of passengers during the religious events.
The new Vande Bharat Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Indore will be fast and efficient. It is expected to reach a maximum speed of 160 kmph, although the average speed is expected to be between 120 and 130 kmph.
This speed will help reduce travel time between Delhi and Indore, making it a quicker and more comfortable option than many current trains.
As of January 2025, the Indian Railways is running 136 Vande Bharat Express trains across the country. These trains connect major cities and regions and have become known for their speed, comfort, and modern features.
Vande Bharat Express is a semi-high-speed train developed in India. It has features like:
Comfortable seats
Modern toilets
Onboard Wi-Fi
Automatic doors
Smart lighting and security systems
These features make it popular among both regular passengers and tourists.
The proposal for the new Hazrat Nizamuddin–Indore Vande Bharat train has been sent to the Railway Board. Approval from the board is needed before regular operations can begin. Once approved, the final schedule, fare, and booking details will be announced.
Officials have said that the train rack is already available, which means once the trial run is successful, the full operation of the train can begin quickly.

The Vande Bharat Express trains have become one of India’s most popular rail services since their launch in 2019. With each new route, they offer faster, cleaner, and better rail travel across the country.
The Indian government and Indian Railways are working to expand these services to more regions, including North East India, Jammu & Kashmir, and South India.
The expected launch of the Hazrat Nizamuddin–Indore Vande Bharat train is a big step in improving railway connectivity in India. It not only answers public demand but also shows the government’s commitment to building a modern railway system.
