Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the country on Monday, May 12, 2025, after the Indian Army’s strong action during “Operation Sindoor.” He made it clear that India will not accept any “nuclear blackmail” from Pakistan and said that future actions will depend on how Pakistan behaves.
He said that Pakistan had begged India to stop its military operation. India only agreed to pause the attacks after Pakistan promised to stop supporting terrorism. Modi said, “India will not tolerate any nuclear blackmail. We have only paused our operations. What happens next will depend on their behaviour.”
Modi explained that Operation Sindoor is not just a name, but a new Indian policy to fight terrorism strongly. He added, “A new line has been drawn.”
He called the terror attack in Pahalgam the “most barbaric” and said it had hurt him personally. But he also said that the enemies have now understood the cost of attacking Indian women and trying to wipe the "sindoor" from their foreheads — a cultural symbol of married women.
During his speech, Modi said, “More than 100 dangerous terrorists were killed. The world has seen India’s resolve turn into action.”
He also made it clear that India will not make a difference between terrorists and the governments who help them. “We will see them both the same,” he said.
The Prime Minister added, “This is not an age of war, but it is also not an age of terrorism. Pakistan must break down its terror infrastructure. Peace is only possible when terror ends.”

The Indian Armed Forces started Operation Sindoor on May 7. They carried out smart attacks on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Over 100 terrorists were killed.
Pakistan tried to fight back, but the Indian Army quickly stopped their attack. India also hit back at some of Pakistan’s Air Bases.
India said that its answer to Pakistan’s aggression was strong, planned, and controlled. On May 10, both countries agreed to stop the fighting. On Monday, the top army officers (DGsMO) from both sides spoke before PM Modi gave his speech to the nation.
