Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday’s new film Kesari Chapter 2 is doing well at the box office. This courtroom drama, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar, has received good reviews and has been performing steadily since its release on April 18, 2025.
According to Sacnilk.com, the film earned ₹3.2 crore on its sixth day. This brings its total box office collection to ₹42.2 crore. This is the lowest single-day earning for the film so far, but it’s still considered a good performance overall.
The movie had a strong start, earning ₹7.75 crore on its opening day. Over the next few days, the film maintained its pace, though it didn’t show much increase in earnings. Still, it’s holding steady in the theatres and continues to attract audiences.
On its sixth day, the film had a 9.91% occupancy in Hindi-speaking regions. This means that about one out of every ten seats was filled across all the movie screenings in Hindi on Wednesday.
Kesari Chapter 2 is not a direct sequel in terms of story but is connected to the earlier film Kesari which came out in 2019. In the new film, Akshay Kumar plays a historical figure, lawyer C Sankaran Nair. He is best known for standing up against the British government after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919.
In this film, Akshay’s character fights a legal battle in court to expose the truth of what happened in Amritsar. The film shows how he challenged the British Empire through the legal system. The film is based on real events and inspired by the book The Case That Shook the Empire, written by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. This book tells the story of how lawyer C Sankaran Nair filed a case that brought international attention to British actions in India.
