Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini on Sunday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring that welfare benefits reach every deserving citizen without unnecessary hurdles. Speaking at an Antyodaya Mela in Ladwa, Kurukshetra district, Saini said the government’s goal is to make sure that no poor family is left behind and no eligible person is deprived of opportunities due to a lack of information, resources, or access.
The chief minister said governance today is no longer limited to government offices. Instead, the administration is actively reaching out to people and delivering services at their doorstep. According to him, the state government is working to make welfare schemes more accessible, transparent, and effective so that families can improve their quality of life and become financially independent.
Addressing a large gathering at IGN College in Ladwa, where the Antyodaya Mela was organized under the Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana, Saini highlighted the importance of inclusive development and equal opportunities for all sections of society.
During his address, Saini said the government’s vision is clear: every eligible citizen should receive the benefits of welfare schemes without facing difficulties. He stressed that no family should be denied progress because of limited resources, lack of connections, or insufficient information about government programs.
“Our aim is to ensure that every scheme, every resource, and every government effort reaches the last person standing in the queue,” he said.
The chief minister described the Antyodaya Melas as more than just government events. He called them “melas of hope, opportunity, and self-reliance” that provide a platform for economically weaker families to access various government services and support systems under one roof.
The Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana was launched with the objective of helping low-income families improve their economic condition. Through these melas, eligible families are connected with different welfare programs that can help them build sustainable livelihoods and become self-sufficient.
According to government officials, beneficiaries can access services and benefits from 47 welfare schemes operated by 19 different departments. These include programs related to self-employment, skill development, financial inclusion, social welfare, and livelihood enhancement.
Saini said the initiative focuses not only on providing financial assistance but also on empowering families through employment opportunities, training, and long-term support. He emphasized that true development comes when people are equipped with the skills and resources needed to support themselves and their families.
Highlighting the scale of the program, the chief minister shared statistics showing the progress made so far. He said that 166 Antyodaya Melas have been organized across Haryana. Through these events, over 424,000 families have been invited to participate.
Of these, nearly 189,000 families attended the melas, while more than 152,000 families were referred to concerned departments for additional support and assistance. Around 55,000 eligible beneficiaries have already received livelihood-related benefits through the initiative.
Saini said these numbers demonstrate the government’s commitment to reaching vulnerable families and helping them improve their economic condition.
The chief minister also spoke about efforts to simplify welfare delivery. He noted that government schemes have been integrated with the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) database, making it easier for eligible families to receive benefits automatically.
As a result, nearly 4 million Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards have been generated without requiring citizens to visit government offices or complete lengthy paperwork. This digital approach, he said, has reduced delays and ensured greater transparency in the distribution of welfare benefits.
Later in the day, Saini participated in an anti-drug awareness campaign in Yamunanagar. He flagged off the “Nasha Se Jung-Yamunanagar Ke Sang” run and urged people from all sections of society to join the fight against substance abuse.
The chief minister said that a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free youth population is essential for building a strong and developed nation. He warned that drug addiction poses a serious threat to individuals, families, and society as a whole.
Accompanied by Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana and local MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora, Saini called for collective efforts to tackle the growing challenge of drug abuse.
He said every young person faces choices that shape their future. One path leads toward education, health, success, and development, while the other leads toward addiction and destruction.
“I am confident that Haryana’s youth will choose the path of progress and contribute to building a developed India,” he said.
The chief minister also appealed to parents to spend more time with their children and stay involved in their lives. According to him, loneliness and lack of emotional support can sometimes push young people toward harmful habits.
He encouraged families, educational institutions, community organizations, and government agencies to work together in creating awareness about the dangers of drug addiction.
Following the event, Saini honored the winners of a 10-kilometre race organized as part of the anti-drug campaign.
The chief minister later joined citizens in listening to the latest edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio program, Mann Ki Baat, in Ladwa.
Speaking afterward, Saini said the program continues to inspire people across the country by highlighting the achievements of ordinary citizens. He noted that the Prime Minister often shares stories of individuals who have overcome challenges through hard work, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
According to Saini, these success stories motivate young people to become self-reliant and contribute positively to society. He said the examples showcased in the program demonstrate how determination and skill can transform lives and create opportunities.
Concluding his remarks, the chief minister reiterated that Haryana’s development agenda is centered on empowering people, improving access to government services, and creating opportunities for every citizen. He said the government remains committed to ensuring that welfare benefits reach those who need them most while also promoting social responsibility, youth empowerment, and economic self-reliance across the state.
