Patiala, July 18: Under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) had issued a notification extending the benefit of the Domestic Supply (DS) Tariff to eligible lawyers’ chambers located in court complexes across Punjab.

Taking serious note of complaints regarding delays and laxity at the field level in implementing the notification, PSPCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Dr. Basant Garg has issued strict instructions to the officers of all Sub-Division Offices to process and dispose of eligible applications within two days of their receipt.

The decision to extend the Domestic Supply Tariff benefit was taken after lawyers from across the state brought the matter to the notice of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and requested that electricity connections for their chambers be shifted from the Commercial Tariff to the Domestic Supply Tariff.

As stipulated in the notification, the benefit is applicable only to the chambers of advocates registered with the Punjab and Haryana Bar Council that are located within court complexes and used exclusively for the practice of law.

Chambers being used for canteens, photocopy centres or any other commercial or business activity will not be eligible for the Domestic Supply Tariff.

Eligible advocates may submit applications to the concerned PSPCL office for the conversion of the electricity tariff applicable to their chambers. After verification and approval, electricity connections of qualifying chambers may be shifted from the Commercial Tariff to the Domestic Supply (DS) Tariff.

Applications Must Be Disposed of Within Two Days: CMD Dr. Basant Garg

PSPCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Dr. Basant Garg appealed to eligible advocates working in court complexes across the state to submit their applications at the earliest and avail themselves of the benefit extended by the Punjab Government.

He reiterated that officers of all Sub-Division Offices have been clearly directed to strictly comply with the notification issued by the government and ensure that every eligible application is processed and disposed of within two days of its receipt.
